Ok sorry if this isnt about your rewrite, im not familiar with Winx club at all, but are they actually called "Magixians"????? It sounds a little orientalist to me since from what I know winx club is pretty western for a show & theres no need to add the x in there besides to make it sound chinese. But like you dont have to answer this at all if you dont wanna!! Well aware i could probably just search it up. Hope you have a good day!!! Your art is terrific!!!
Yes, you could do a little research first
I personally chose the term "magixians" (English translation of "magixiani", since I'm Italian) to define humanoid beings endowed with magic, to distinguish them from humans on Earth
But, since you don't know, I'll explain to you that I simply took the name from the city/planet of M A G I X, already present in the series
To me it doesn't seem like a way to make the word sound Chinese at all The show may have many problems, but here y'all are making a fruitless witch hunt over a word
Will there be new kingdoms, or will any of those already mentioned in the comics appear? I found the conflict between Eraklyon and the Kingdom of Karunda interesting, as well as the fact that Sky and Diaspro were active participants in it.
This kingdom in particular no
But something akin to a "civil war" is brewing on Solaria, with the whole situation of the people being divided I have a soft spot for stories with political and historical subplots
Here's my interpretations of your Sirenix curse monster idea thing.
Stella: She's focused immensely on her solar side, masks representing her vanity/fear of showing her true side along her time being cursed to be a monster.
Her lunar side is nowhere to be seen, like it's not part of her life or she's ashamed to show it.
Maybe after defeating her, a lunar figure resembling her younger self runs away from the battle crying.
Chimera: Besides the drinking problem thing, it represents her trauma being a doll to her mother basically.
The shards representing her anger and mean personality. Maybe she's easily distracted by light based attacks/spells and will chase after them even.
Tecna: Obvi Omega dimension trauma, but it also represents her tactfulness. Maybe her body is also half cyborg too for extra flair.
Diaspro: Trauma about being a bride to someone she doesn't love. Her abdomen wound being a metaphor for the hatred of her gender because of Eraklyon culture. Also shows off her smarts like Tecna.
Perhaps if the player is Male she's more openly aggressive with her raw strength, while if the player is Female, she's more strategic with her attacks and deadly with her attack patterns instead of brute force.
Bloom: Trauma about Domino's fall, Icy, and Dark Bloom herself because she's part of the battle herself.
Perhaps the monsters could work like Witches in Madoka, where they're based on the the girl they are?
Like the further you suffer from Sirenix's curse, the more often you might hallucinate your monster self and have to fight it off.
Perhaps along with bonds with the people in your lives, emotional magic helps ward off the curse like taking a painkiller.
Doesn't fix the problem entirely, but helps make life livable y'know?
It is similar to the Madoka Magica thing in that you have to hit a breaking point of despair/intense emotional pain for it to take hold and transform you. Usually this is permanent but concentrated efforts to appeal to the victim and soothe the initial wound/wounds can bring them back to sanity. I'm still workshopping the mechanics. I wanna do a post more indepth about all the monster concepts once I compile them.
You're mostly on the money, though there's a few elements that I added that are very tied to events that happen prior in the story (Stella's is directly referencing Cassandra attempting to kill her and causing Solaria as a whole to believe she was dead as well as some other stuff, Diaspro's inability to stand up is a reference to chronic issues she's had post kidnapping, the most prominent crack in Chimera's skull is a reference to a head injury she had as a child, etc).
Rewrite or something,
Riven's home (riven kinda backstory)
Riven never really have a 'childhood', he always think his house is a curse. But after the death of his father died, he feel obligated to take care of the one thing that his father left behind. He didn't know why he feel like that, is not like he a good father or even a good person in the first place. At least he was there not like his mom
Ohhh the backstory on Daphne having empathized with Politea is so heartbreaking. It's way more interesting than just Politea being some jerk who betrayed her.
May I add an idea to add to the drama/twist the knife?
Imagine during the Sirenix quest the girls have to stay overnight at Aisha's castle because the storms are too rough for even Harmonix to handle.
While the girls enjoy some seafood and tea, Aisha tells them some folklore about the storms in Andros/throughout the many oceans throughout the magical dimension.
"They say that when the storms and crashing waves appear without notice and last longer than usual, it's actually Politea's anger and sadness manifesting from her own grief." Aisha says before taking a bite of some baked fish wrapped in a salted seaweed coat.
"Some sailors and travelers caught in the storms are even said to hear either wailing or a heartbreaking requiem.
Depending on who you ask, they say listening to either makes the listener either go mad with grief, jumping into the sea to be claimed by Politea, or enlightens them, having heard and lived to tell Politea's story." She continues before taking a sip of her tea.
"Geez talk about a creepy and depressing tale." Stella says while enjoying her meal. Her plate is packed with a half sized portion of everything they were being served.
"So a ghost lady might try and either kill us or make us cry? One of these are definitely worse than the other."
"I wonder what her singing sounds like..." Musa ponders aloud.
"Melody has a couple of tales like this, but none to the extremes of anyone DYING from hearing someone wail or sing... Her singing has gotta be beautiful if it kills you or changes your life."
"I don't know, it sounds a bit far fetched to me. But considering what we've dealt with before..." Tecna adds, picking at her food.
"I think either way it's tragic. Do you think we'll be able to handle her if we bump into her? " Flora asks nervously before taking a bite out of a seaweed salad filled with different types of seafood.
"I'm sure we can handle it guys! Besides, it's not like we have a choice..." Bloom says sadly before changing her tone.
"Besides, Daphne has faith in us! Whatever happens we'll be able to deal with it if we stick together!"
With a cheer the Winx continue their chatter into the night, the rain downpouring outside in comparison to their sunny attitudes.
"Politea, I wonder why you are the way you are?" Daphne ponders as she drifts throughout the dreamscape.
"Why do you have so much grief and anger in your heart?"
Unbeknownst to the Nymph and to many, it's recorded on some old Andros files that after Domino's fall there was a year of nonstop storms through the oceans connecting each world.
Almost as if the Ocean itself was grieving the kingdom and it's oceans that were connected to it.
(Hope this was a fun read and stuff!!)
Loved reading it!
I think Daphne meeting Politea is like half meeting your favorite mythological figure and half meeting someone you read about in the news and wanna hug. I think a part of breaking the curse literally is embracing Politea. Like literally put your arms around the dismembered lady after you drag her limbs back to her torso.
I think the Corpse Party trauma from being a kid is showing haha
Was listenin' to winx club news flash's crystal Sirenix remix (totally rec it) and had an idea that could be interesting with your Sirenix arc?
Imagine after exorcising Politea's spirit and Sirenix's curse is broken, Politea and Daphne's magic bonds together and unlocks another form.
Crystal Sirenix.
Design wise it's adjusted to look a little less gaudy and wintery and more of that midway stage of what if Harmonix/Sirenix had a baby.
So like if it was an rpg class, Harmonix is Defense, Sirenix is offense, and Crystal Sirenix is the balanced if it makes sense???
Like it could also be symbolic of Daphne helping Politea and maybe even being friends?
*Hides my Yuri lover shirt with my cardigan*
Maybe, just maybe could they become friends in the afterlife? Daphne could show her the magic of dealing with Traumatix with fanfic.
And like, idk be bffs, girlfriends, or some secret third thing???
I could totally see that! Sirenix already is purified in the end and I'd say the biggest contributors on that are Aisha and Daphne though it was a group effort.
Daphne and Politea could definitely create a new version of Sirenix together and dish it out to whoever they decide is worthy.
Politea basically ascends to godhood the same way Daphne does after her soul is released from the curse. Much like in her mythology and in practices across the Magic Dimension, her domain of influence is the protection of women whereas Daphne's sphere is more associated with the protection of youth. It's not really a straight forward god of whatever type thing, more just what they're regarded for. Daphne's sphere comes to include arcane scholarship and the displaced Dominese diaspora. Politea's primary domains are women as a whole, domestic violence victims, and people fleeing abuse. Sailors still super don't like her because, well, she spent centuries sinking ships and unleashing untold horrors upon the crew. People just never support women's wrongs anymore.
I like the idea of Crystal Sirenix being an extra prize you can get from the goddesses if they decide they like you. Which I think the Winx have hella nepotism to make that one happen lol
Song is seriously a bop. I love the Italian version of the Sirenix song but the English one also slaps. I usually prefer the Italian soundtracks though.
Sidenote I'm working on a kinda off the wall art project (no real drawing, it's weirder) to explain Politea's mythology in the Magic Dimension. I've got about half of it done. It's a mock research paper written by Stella, Bloom, Flora, and Diaspro - rough draft with their notes scribbled on the margins. Stella couldn't be bothered to even try to stay in academic language so her explanations are pretty unhinged. Diaspro is like, quietly a little bit classist in the background like "lol, we know its a crazy story because since when would a crown ruler propose to an indentured servant, that's insane" and Stella's like "Um, I like your brother?"
Will Thoren exist in your rewrite?
Most likely not
From what I remember he was a pretty useless character, just a ken to marry off to a revived Daphne (still the dumbest idea in HISTORY 🙄)
Since my version of Daphne won't be resurrected as a Jesus Christ Superstar wannabe, he will not exist
At most I might think of recycling his name or his appearance for some secondary character
