"I've helped people get rid of headaches by placing my hand on their forehead, and backaches by placing my hand on their back. It's a powerful example of love that really works." -Shelley Long
The one where she takes the woman talk show host’s (Bobbie Wygant) hand, it was after the director had called cut (I saw some video where there was clearly some stuff that they did not/I really would not think they would air) and she said, “You’re a neat lady!”
In 1977 The Second City put on an original musical-comedy revue called “Wellsapoppin’” (a play on Helzapoppin’). Some of the stars of it were Shelley Long, Miriam Flynn, and Eric Boardman.
It resulted in Shelley winning a Joseph Jefferson Award for best actress in musical.
@chambersmalone 1) Why does the ink of the newspaper make the photos look like a comic book? 2) Who doesn’t love a good the girl used to be a guy romance story (In 1977 I can only imagine...)? 3) Why is she so amazing?

I will forever remember him as the co-host of "Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs," "More Dinosaurs," and "Prehistoric World" with Eric Boardman. Many of you in your mid-twenties or older (such as myself) may remember these classic and loved films. Few men left a larger impact on my young little mind than this guy. His great personality and great voice leapt from the screen into my heart and memory. I had always hoped to meet this hero of mine. Alas, this will never happen now. One day I hope to visit his grave and pay my dues to the man who helped influence me to study the paleontology and who, despite what everyone else in my life said or did, always encouraged me to hold the world around me in wonder and awe.
RIP Garyosaurus!
For those of you unfamiliar with Gary and Eric's wonderful children's programs (that are still educational, fun, well-done, and hilarious to adult audiences), I strongly recommend you check them out, released on DVD here.
On Facebook, where I heard the news, I stated:
"No! This is terrible! I'm heartbroken. I can't even begin to accept this right now. He was such a huge part of my childhood with his dinosaur and prehistoric animal shows with Eric Boardman. I still watch them today, and those shows are literally some of my best childhood memories. I've always wanted to meet this hero of mine so badly. Rest in peace, ! We love you!"
In a shared post on Facebook from Eric Boardman's profile, I said:
"Eric, I'm very sorry to hear this (see previous FB posts). Gary and yourself both had a massive impact on my life as a child, and I watch your shows repeatedly to this day and have few (if any) happier childhood memories. You guys are still my heroes because of this, and seeing how torn up I am over this (this big, cold-hearted he-man has tears in his eyes), I hope you're doing ok, too.
You guys are great, and I shall never forget you."
