We live in a world of voyeurism more than we can ever imagine. It is almost as fair to look at Skype in the same manner as snap chat and Instagram in regards to viewing the day to day of someone we know or desire to know. So it makes sense that the horror world would turn to this type of behavior as a narrative for their films. Call Girl is one such film and to this date gives one of the more accurate portrayals of the online lifestyle.
From Chatroulette to Omegle and Google Plus webcam interaction has become in a sense a necessity in today’s society. In Jill Sixx Gevargizian’s Call Girl she takes Eric Havens story of an online cam session to the extreme.
“Authentic” is the word that comes to mind when watching this great looking short. Anyone who has ever spent time interacting with loved ones or friends by this means will feel the realism Jill was able to display in the film. We were so drawn in to the feel of Call Girl that we were guessing which hosting site was being used for the conversation.
Tristan Risk looked divine and no one could deny the relentless nature of Laurence R. Harvey. This team of four has delivered a great looking short that cuts to the core and leaves us wanting more. There will be tons of great shorts shown throughout 2014 and one that many will speak of will be Call Girl. Find out how the short came to be and what else is going on in the mind of the director Jill Sixx in an exclusive interview right here on #HMUNCUT.
