It recently occurred to me that one of my fave feel good/comfort movies, Big Eden, could be included as part of C6D because it stars Eric Schweig who was in the due South pilot.

Big Eden is a sweet film about a gay man who returns to his small hometown in Montana to take care of his ill grandfather, and pretty much the whole town then proceeds to play matchmaker between him and the local general store owner, Pike (Eric Schweig).

This film means a lot to me as Native/Indigenous representation is hard to come by, and queer Native/Indigenous rep even more so. I highly recommend it to any dS/C6D fans, and anyone in general, who wants to watch a lovely queer romance.

As you and I know, a bunch of scenes were cut from the film “The Last of the Mohicans”. We can observe some nuances from these deleted scenes in our film adaptation.

And here is one of them:

I've been wondering for a long time what its meaning is. Don't think that I'm very picky about various things in films. It’s just that, as you and I know, Cora and Alice got to Fort William Henry without a single thing in their hands (they only had other dresses, but they won’t fit in this small box, right?). therefore, this cannot possibly be some kind of personal item, relic, etc.

I have only one guess - this is a gift from some person. a very valuable gift to her, which she took with her. but who could it be from then? perhaps it could be any of the people she knew (Alice had no girlfriends/friends in Fort Henry). it could have been an acquaintance or friend of Colonel Monroe, who could have given his friend’s daughter a gift (but I believe that there were no acquaintances or friends)

but there is also a second option - uncas. I always had the feeling that in the deleted scenes she and Alice crossed paths at least once during the siege of the fort. nevertheless, the life of the entire fort hung in the balance, so it seems to me that Uncas would not have missed the opportunity to see his beloved more often and pay more attention to her. and so I gave her this box, but we may never know what’s in it (

Как мы с вами знаем, в фильме «Последний из могикан» было вырезано кучу сцен. Некоторые нюансы из этих вырезанных сцен мы можем наблюдать в нашей экранизации. И вот один из них:

Уже давно задумываюсь над тем, какой она имеет смысл. Не подумайте что я очень придирчива к различным вещам в фильмах. Просто, как мы с вами знаем, Кора и Элис добрались до форта Уильям-Генри без единой вещицы в руках (у них были только другие платья, но ведь они не поместятся в эту маленькую коробочку, верно?). Поэтому это никак не может быть какой-нибудь личной вещицей, реликвией и тому подобное.

У меня остаётся только одно предположение – это подарок от какого-то человека. Очень ценный ей подарок, который она взяла с собой. Но от кого же он тогда может быть? Возможно, это мог бы быть любой из знакомых ей людей (подруг/друзей у Алисы в форте Генри не было). Это мог быть знакомый/знакомая или друг/подруга полковника Монро, который (которая) мог (могла) подарить дочери своего друга подарок (но я считаю что никаких знакомых и друзей всё же не было).

Но есть ещё второй вариант – Ункас. У меня всегда возникали ощущения, что в вырезанных сценах они с Элис пересеклись хотя бы разок во время осады форта. Всё же жизнь всего форта висела на волоске, поэтому мне кажется Ункас не упустил бы возможность чаще видеть свою любимую и уделять ей больше внимания. И вот подарил ей эту коробочку, но что в ней, мы возможно никогда не узнаем (
