i havent read the virgin books novels, wouldnt know where to find them. but i really wanted to draw an interpretation of eric based on the info on the sonic wiki, because his name is unbelievably stupid.

also i guess it’d be fun to torture knuckles with an echidna from an alternate timeline where they aren’t functionally extinct but chooses to work for eggman, i suppose. thats secondary to the eric thing though. imagine being a sonic character named eric. ridiculous

Sonic Man (left) appears in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). He is a human fan of Sonic who decided to become a hero himself. He even believed himself to have super speed, but realized that was not the case after losing a race to Sonic

Eric the Echidna (right) is a robot created by Robotnik in another timeline to masquerade as a hero. He says "no problemski" and kicked Sonic into the Fourth Dimension when they met each other. Eric was also the first echidna to appear in the Sonic franchise (specifically in Sonic the Hedgehog in the Fourth Dimension), even predating Knuckles

Today, I randomly decided to bring back Eric the echidna and make him the child that Rob o' and Mari-An had for the AU.

Eric the Echidna is a character that appears in the Sonic novel "Sonic The Hedgehog In The Fourth Dimension." He is a blue echidna, although sources say he's not fully or actually an echidna. he is actually an Eggman built machine meant to resemble Sonic but with a longer nose like the echidnas. (No, he's not a robot in this au.)

I know that the child Rob o' and Mari-An had is red, but I really wanted to keep the blue color scheme of Eric, so I gave him Rob o's fur (in my defense Matilda was also depicted as red but now she's green). he's also part hedgehog to keep the "not fully echidna" part of his description.

He's the nephew to Amy Rose, making her his aunt. In the AU, he is left with Amy by Mari-An for safety. After not hearing from Rob o', who left to reclaim his rightful heir to the throne and fight a war, Mari-An went looking for him. But she couldn't tell Eric because he would want to follow her. Sending him off to Amy, she disappears without a trace, leaving Eric to think he was abandoned and left with his aunt.

He becomes close friends with Tania, Stratford, and Matilda. He admires Knuckles, who is known as the last true echidna warrior, that guards the ancient powers on their motherland. Stories and teaching told to him by his mother

He is skilled in wielding any long-range weapons, specifically the bow and arrow and crossbow. He is not as strong as regular echidnas his age (no one trained him), but his aim is impeccable, having learned archery from his father
