So I just did a first aid course and here are some things that I didn't know or forgot that I think are important to know:
1) if an unconscious person is sitting in a car and you are too weak to pull them out, it is better to push them out and risk broken bones than to let them sit there, because they'll most likely suffocate in a sitting position
2) if you successfully did the Heimlich to save somebody from choking (remember pull back AND UP!) they still have to go to the hospital, because the Heimlich can cause liver-bruising and internal bleeding
3) it is once again allowed to remove the helmet of unconscious ppl (at least in Germany)
4) if somebody is stung by a bee in the mouth- or throat-area (even on the outside) the area will swell even if they aren't allergic. Get them to a hospital.
5) for CPR 30 pushes and two breathers
6) do not put a persons legs up if they are suffering a heart attack
7) afab's heart attacks rarely present like amab's and are sometimes mistaken for period symptoms (nausea, backpain, stomachpain, heatflashes and sweat. ..) but you might be able to tell because of the "triangle of death": the area below the nose and around the mouth will likely be significantly whiter (no idea how it looks for black ppl. Please tell me if you know!)
8) rubbing someones sternum to wake them up is considered bodily harm in germany.
9) in germany you can use 112 (regular emergency call) but also 911! This is specifically because Americans apparently often think 911 is the universal number (lol) and it will direct you to an english-speaking 112-operator. 112 is used in the entire EU and some additional countries.
Feel free to add stuff and repost.
