A beauty...even under hockey arena lighting 😍

Other than ruiniting with all my guitar friends yesterday, my favourite moment of the @elmiravintageguitars show was when this 1953 Gibson ES-295 showed up at the @folkwaymusic booth for appraisal (by @nathan_schiller_guitar, left).

You just never know what's going to appear at Elmira!

Gibson's Golden Age.

Here's an outtake from my photo session for Vic DaPra and David Plues' upcoming book "ES Believers". Look for this guitar and several others from the same collection when the book comes out later this year (or early next year...David assures me if it's not out by Christmas it will definitely be out in time for NAMM!).

"ver·di·gris - a bright bluish-green encrustation or patina formed on copper or brass by atmospheric oxidation, consisting of basic copper carbonate." - Oxford Languages* 1953 #Gibson #ES295, spotted yesterday at @folkwaymusic.  You don't see many vintage 295s around (or modern ones for that matter!) and I just love it when the #goldtop gold finish has cracked and aged, and gone green around the edges like this one has. I don't know the chemical formulation of Gibson's goldtop gold...but I am going to wager it contains copper!

An incredibly special WednESday this week, with the #guitar that kick-started rock n roll (in Scotty Moore's hands).

But not just that: this Gibson ES295 was bought new in 1957 as part of a set with the #GA30 amp and accessories seen here, and essentially put into storage for over six decades. Then @capsulemusic acquired the complete set earlier this year, and had literally no trouble selling it to a lucky Toronto collector. You just do not see a set like this come up every day!
