Here's another beauty I saw at @thetwelfthfret on the weekend: 2016 #Gibson Memphis #ES345 1964 #Reissue #SeaFoamGreen, limited edition 1 of 50. When Gibson's VOS finishes started getting REALLY good in the mid 2010s I remember thinking just how hard it was to tell these Memphis VOS guitars from the real vintage deal. Gibson's aging process in the mid 2010s was so much more subtle and convincing than the OTT Rococo heavy relic monstrosities seemingly churned out by the their Fender Custom Shop counterparts that just SCREAMED "my aging is so obviously fake". To Fender's credit, their subsequent "Journeyman" finishes are so much better IMO. I remember when this specific model came out in 2016 thinking how beautiful it was, and if it wasn't for the impossible finish (as far as I know Foam Green was never a custom finish offered by Gibson), it could easily be mistaken for vintage. They only made 50 of these so then price then (and now) is not cheap (although it is still a fraction of the cost of a real '64 ES345), but if I had the cash and didn't have a list the length of my arm of vintage amps I want to buy first, I'd love to have this one in my collection. #guitarphotography #reissue #tone #gibsonguitars #guitar #guitars #gibsoncustom #guitarra #electricguitar #customshop #guitarre #guitargear #chitarra #thinline #es335 #semihollow #es355 #semihollowsunday #es345
