god i wanna refind this very specific drarry fic so BAD
most, if not nearly all, of the hp slash fic I read as a teenager was probably written by inexperienced afab folks. just… got that vibe, as another inexperienced afab person at the time lmao
this one drarry fic was the first one where like… the humor, the tone, seemed to be of someone already out, who had a queer community and knowledge from it… it kinda rewrote my brain a bit on how to handle myself. because Harry wasn’t terrified of his interest in men (like I was feeling about my interest in women), he was mostly just annoyed that he had a crush on Malfoy.
the whole fic was great honestly, Harry becomes a vampire in his adulthood, and has to deal with all that entails- has to quit as an auror, has to find blood sources, and the humor and support of Ron and Hermione was also quite lovely.
The only issue…. I’m pretty sure it was on an HP archive, and I don’t remember which. At the very least, it didn’t go down with Gryffindor Tower, since it was slash, but I’m pretty sure all of them closed? And I’m not about to spend HOURS looking through HP fic on AO3 when it might not even be there.
as always, thanking my lucky stars for the existence of AO3 nowadays- so many good fics lost in the interim.
