Some replies!
essefex Thought this was gonna be a Stardew Valley mod. What differentiates this game from that one?
Hmm, that surprises me a bit to hear! :o I haven’t really talked about Stardew Valley, except to advertise a Humble Bundle with it in it and once to jokingly lament that they released “indie Harvest Moon, but with more features, and also you don’t have to be straight” before we could, hah.
BUT! To answer your question re: differences, Wishbone is much more character-oriented and plot-oriented. I still haven’t played Stardew Valley myself, but from what I’ve heard about it, it--like Harvest Moon--has fairly basic characters, opting to focus on item collection and farm upgrades and such rather than character development and plot. With Wishbone, the characters are one of the most important parts of the game, and--I expect--are what people will most remember about it. The main plot filled with cowboy drama aside... even minor NPCs like the Saloon owners, the guy behind the counter at the Bank, and the carpenter who builds your farm upgrades have backstories and secrets to discover.
In terms of gameplay, I’m not 100% sure what the biggest differences are, since I still haven’t played Stardew Valley and both it and Wishbone draw heavily from Harvest Moon-style farming and foraging mechanics. Wishbone does have a lot of minigames, though, and I don’t... thiiiink? Stardew Valley does? Wishbone also doesn’t have a limited inventory, so you don’t have to juggle stuff in and out of storage and are free to carry around 99 Bookcases at all times if your heart desires. You also have a health bar that will get depleted by bears and outlaws if you’re not careful when you’re hunting out in the wilderness.
Also... this game has cowboys in it. :)
daxflame YAAAAY zendria woo! fiftyweasels hell yea!! happymountains-game Your dedication and hard work on the game is really inspiring <3 looking forward to your next update!
Thank you, everyone! That makes us very happy to hear! ^^
Seconding the sentiment that all four mechanics (Exert, Cycle, Embalm, -1/-1 Counters) feel satisfying to use and are enjoyable to play against. Also I really love the Cartouches for providing value beyond their buff. I got to play UG for prerelease. The Blue one replaces itself and the Green one trades very well for an opponent's card. The extra value of bouncing the Trial of Zeal I splashed for was an awesome extra reward too. Really felt my deck becoming an ecosystem.
The "ecosystem" feel is an important part of the design.
Doubling up on the request for a DATE on 'operationality' of mechanics.
I usually don't know what I'm writing a week from now. : )
Hello, MaRo, My birthday was a couple of days ago, and I asked a few people if there was anything I could ask for them. One wanted to know: Why don't Tribal cards get printed in supplemental products? Failing that, another inquires: Do you think From the Vault: Silver Border could happen? Thanks for any response and all you do.
Tribal is no longer supported so that means we don't make new cards with it.
I think an Un-From the Vault isn't off the table.
Happy Belated Birthday!
Just wanted to assure you that my first playgroup and I, when I was new and knew even less about the lore than I do today, found it readily apparent that Ajani was a healer and provider of support. Ajani Goldmane's first ability heals his player. His second revitalizes the army around him. His role as mentor has become yet more apparent with the addition of Green, finding creatures is like training them; he's Chiron. Wasn't called 'Mentor of Heroes' on Theors, the Greek Plane by coincidence, eh?
I always thought it was obvious until it came up on Blogatog that to a bunch of players it wasn't obvious. A good design lesson - don't assume players will just get everything.
RE: Booster box from the future. I think you should store it in a closet somewhere until the day the set is released. Then open it to compare. Did it turn out exactly the same, indicating a steady flow of time in the absence of disruption, or are there differences, indicating that the timestream is in constant flux regardless? (I reblogged with this suggestion, but I don't think you see reblogs)
Not the topic I expected to be dominating the blog today.

I have that game installed and I've kept making half-hearted plans to boot it. Been wanting to try it since I saw it in really early access. But uh, haven't gotten there yet.
If you’re not super scared of the deep ocean, it’s amazing! With the day/night cycles as well, some areas get pitch-black dark and all you see are bioluminescent details and an occasional roar from a leviathan in the distance.
I will actually park my Seamoth in the Mushroom Forest, flick off the lights, and wait for the night cycle to pass reading unread entries. All while listening to the sounds of the deep. A lot of days, it’s super soothing.
It’s been a year and a half since I last played it, and I wanted to do a second round because why not. With their new expansion(?): Below Zero, I wanted to play again at least until some of the new content got more solidified. Also remind myself how to play it some.
I seriously suggest you at least take a dive around, it’s a gorgeous game, while also having it’s terrifying moments.
