The Big Comic Con Survival Guide
PART 1/?Its your first anime convention, whether you are staying one day or all three days, you know you’ll need the essentials, and more. As someone who has been con going for years now, its now engraved that these are the items to need. If I miss something, make sure to add it and reblog!
BEGINNING THINGS TO NEED
Identification: Most cons require patrons to have a government issued ID (Drivers license, Permit, State issued ID, Passport) some cons are lenient and will allow a Student ID, however you should consult with the con. This is also needed to get into certain events (18+ panels, or bars at the con)
if you are a young-ling (Under the age of 13) some cons might require a parent to give permission for you to be let in, or have a parent with you. Badge: This is also known as your ticket! Some cons let you pick it up day of, or some have a day before called “Day Zero” where you can pick it up. Some cons (Very few) will send it to you. Do not loose this badge, as this might risk your chance of not being let in Hotel Key: If you managed to get that sweet sweet deal at that fancy-schmancy Hilton/Marriott/Super 6 hotel for the con, make sure you keep your hotel key with you. That is your way of sleep and anyone who gets that key, will get into your room and that can mean bad news Money: Whether it be cash or credit card, money is the way to get in. Cash is a good way to go since some con vendors don’t accept credit/debit card. I would say have enough for a ticket, food, and sweet sweet anime merch.
A Bag: Something small enough to carry around and be able to carry the essentials, yet large enough to be able to carry other items
FOR YOUR HEALTH
Water bottle: Drink up and I mean it! You need to make sure you are hydrated throughout the convention. Water is a great choice, but Gatorade or any sort of water with Electrolytes will keep you up and going. Try to avoid Soda or overall sugary drinks, it really drains you. Tylenol/Advil/Motrin: Cons can get loud and exciting but sometimes you have that headache that just wont go away. Try to keep a small baggy with some sort of painkiller with you in case this happens. I recommend Tylenol, as it seems to work faster for me.
Snacks: Suppose you don’t have the extra cash to afford the meals they have at cons. Try to bring some snacks with you. Healthy snacks to keep your energy up. Granola, Trail Mix, maybe even some other snacks. It depends on you but if you Comfortable shoes/Insoles for shoes: You may experience your feet is hurting. But if you want to walk around and survive, you should probably bring a pair of tennis shoes or some insoles for your shoes to keep them comfortable.
First Aid Kit: Accidents happen! Make sure to have a mini first aid kit with Bandaids, ointment, antiseptic wipes and the essentials.
FOR YOUR COSPLAY
Sewing needle and thread: Make sure the colors match your cosplay! This is to assure in case of Buttons: YOU’LL NEED IT
Hot glue gun: Most of the time at cons there is a repair room, and that means there is outlets to fix your cosplay
Super glue: If there is no outlet, some fabric super glue is always a great option
Comb: Gotta keep your wig nice and tidy right?
Mini hairspray: To keep the whispies of your wig in place A backup pair of clothing: If you get tired of wearing your cosplay, make sure you have a backup pair. Take in mind the weather Makeup: Please make sure to have your makeup if your cosplay requires or needs it. Just to touch up, and make sure you look presentable for your pictures
