Commission for @blackcur-rants! Sparrowhawk/ Ged, Tenar (Arha), and Vetch/Estarriol preparing a meal for them
I loved you first, I loved you first Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth I have to go, I have to go Your hair was long when we first met

Something about Ged and Estarriol and a quiet love that exists in the forgotten fragments of history
Ged and vetch you are both gay and stupid. I love you
I recently read A wizard from Earthsea and I really liked it!!
I was introduced to this story more than a year ago through the film by Goro Miyazaki, Tales from Earthsea (which I know isn't a really good adaptation of the story, but I still really liked it) because, in case you didn't know, I'm a huge Studio Ghibli fan, but I hadn't been able to actually read the books until now, and wow, it was so cool!
I must say I didn't really like Ged at the begining. He knew he was intelligent and powerfull and usually made poor decisions because he thought he could do anything he wanted, but he was just really impatient and that made me a bit angry (in that sense he kinda reminded me of Kvothe from The name of the Wind ) but he was just a child acting as children do. He did get a lot of character development after facing the consequences of his own actions, and I quickly started to love him. I also got to know how he got the skar he already had as an adult in the film, I was really curious about that story. His relationship with Estarriol was really sweet, because he always believed in Ged even when he wasn't sure about his own beliefs. Oh, and my favourite character was definitely Ogion, he really cared for Ged as if he was his son, and I think that's really cute.
I think this book was great. I loved seeing Ged grow older and wiser, facing dragons, making friends and fighting his shadow. I'm really excited to read The tombs of Atuan and learn more about him and this world!

Ged also spoke low, to use his friend’s true name: “No matter, Estarriol. But this is myself, and I am glad to see you...”
[Estarriol] heard, perhaps, something more than simple gladness in his voice. He had not yet let go of Ged’s shoulder, and he said now, in the True Speech, “In trouble and from darkness you come, Ged, yet your coming is joy to me.”

I’m reading the Earthsea books for the first time... super recommend the first one to anyone in need of a heartfelt story of discovery and self acceptance... wow 😭
