Horror Reading List

A list of horror books I have either read or am planning to read. I am looking for reccommendations, so please feel free to throw them into my askbox - I am NOT looking to read any Stephen King novels, so do not bother to reccommend him to me, thank you.

Thriller, YA - Darren Shan - Series - 2012-2014
It's been a bit since I read this series, but I remember really, really loving it. I'm slowly getting my hands on all the books again so I can, hopefully, get around to re-reading it!

Adult - Jonathan Sims - Standalone - 2020
Okay, so full preface: I love both the Mechanisms and TMA, so of course I was going to read anything this man puts out. It's a FANTASTIC debut, suffers in a couple places from the style of the novel (multiple stories that converge at the end), but nonetheless a great time and a wonderful read.

Adult - Jonathan Sims - Standalone - 2022
I massively preferred this over Sims' first novel. It's a far slower burn, with a single character and story to focus on, and overall I feel it ironed out a lot of the flaws of his debut.

YA - JCg Drews - Standalone - 2024
Holy shit. This book is going to haunt me for a long time to come. Beautiful prose, deeply tragic, and with some WONDERFULLY delicious body horror to top it off.

I've heard really good things about AJW books! They've been on my radar for a good few years now and are something I hope to get my hands on soon.
