Just finished Étoile (2025) and I really like it. It's a shame there isn't going to be a second season.
Something that really stood out to me, though, was the complete lack of sex scenes. Like, we don't even see characters make-out. We barely see a couple of kisses at the end, there.
There's one shot of Luke Kirby's ass as he gets out of bed after having sex...but we don't see any of the actual sex scene that leads up to it.
And I just find it fascinating. Every show doesn't need to have Heated Rivalrly level explicit scenes, obviously. But I will admit, I expect there to be some degree of sex scene in shows about professional dancers or an acting school or whatever.
Also there was a distinct lack of backstabbing among the dancers. Like, Mishi got the worst of it in France and even that was extremely tame as compared to other shows in the same setting.
You know what it is...it's all very lighthearted. Like, everything is in service to telling a very pleasant story about a bunch of quirky artists all coming together to make something beautiful. And I like that story (even as it's fantastical)...but it is still wild to me that it's damn near sexless.
