Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

I just finished reading Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. My experience with Betsy-Tacy so far has been that they're cute stories that capture the essence of childhood, but since I didn't read them as a child, I missed out on the opportunity to truly love them. This one had a rocky beginning, but once it got going, it turned out to have a cozy, Christmassy atmosphere that was perfect for the season. The theatrical and library focus was fun, and Mrs. Poppy is a new favorite character. (I'll even forgive it the Lady Audley's Secret slander.)

Aw, that’s so nice!

Hm. I’m writing a couple short stories right now, so my WIPs have been a bit neglected. 

I love the way my characters grow and change throughout the story in Fish Food. It’s awesome. And plotting all the little twists and turns the plot takes (especially the big twists and turns) is so much fun! I’ve never worked on something of this scale before because I never thought I could write something this long, but the more I work on it, the easier it gets. 

There are two moments in Lithium’s arc that completely change how you see her both times. She’s wilier than you think. 😉

Happy STS! Who's your favorite side character and why?

Etta! Hello lovely, thank you for the question ^_^

Favourite side character in Changeling was Mia Harris! She was just so much fun to write, especially when she was being a grad A bitch to Lizzy, while flirting with Andric in the very next breath.

It was always just so much fun coming up with the most vitriolic statements and letting her delivery them in the sugary sweet tone. Brilliant.

Combined with the fact that I have more plans for her in the rest of the series, she was just a fantastic side character to establish in Changeling.

For Darkling, my favourite side character is a surprise character, so I can't name drop him, but he's really interesting to slip inside his head. He's a new POV character, but he's so riddled with anxiety it's just a really interesting viewpoint to view the world, and Lizzy, through the lense of.
