It took me far too long to prove, in any triangle ABC with point D on the line AC such that the angles BDA and BDC are right angles, that BC² = AB² + AC² - 2(AC×AD)
I just didn't realise you could put a smaller square in a bigger square to visually represent the difference of their areas. After that it clicked.
