The STARLight project, led by STMicroelectronics, has been selected by the European Commission to spearhead the development of next-generation silicon photonics technology on 300mm wafers. This initiative brings together 24 leading technology companies and universities from 11 EU countries, with the aim of establishing Europe as a global leader in this field. The project focuses on developing high-volume manufacturing capabilities and advanced optical modules for applications in data centers, AI clusters, telecommunications, and the automotive industry.
