Author’s Note: Hi, Caitlin! I’m your Secret Admirer. I hope you like your Valentines Day gift!
It takes a certain type of person to be considered romantic. They’re the dreamers who’re always in a whirlwind of creativity, the poets who always seem to have a way with words that makes everything they say, seem like an entertaining story, the optimists who can make others’ day just by smiling.
Wonwoo has been told that he fits all of these categories perfectly, and yet, he’s still failing at dazzling the woman he’s been pining for.
Caitlin was her name, or from Wonwoo’s perspective, his ultimate weakness.
Just a thankful smile from her after handing her a cup filled with coffee would have Wonwoo’s hands shaking, and he’d have to duck out of the rec-room where she was studying before he scared her off with a big, dorky grin.
No doubt she thought he was weird.
He couldn’t spend more than a couple minutes alone without embarrassing himself. He’d blurt random jokes out when the awkward silence was getting to be unbearable, and would inwardly cringe as she shook her head at him, a smile tugging at her lips despite the words, “that was so cheesy,” slipping out of her mouth.
He craved any and all of her happiness. The more he made her smile and laugh (and maybe the occasional blush), the more he wanted to see hear her musical laughter or the sweet smile that she blessed him with so rarely. One the days he managed to make her laugh, he’d think about it the rest of the day, curling up at night and falling asleep with the words I made her laugh, echoing through his thoughts.
Every morning leading up to Valentines Day, he’d lay a single red rose on her outside her door at approximately 6 o’clock in the morning before she left for her classes. Except, for today, Wonwoo placed a cream-colored letter directly under the rose so that she’d notice the paper.
That letter was possibly the most important paper he’d ever written, and it took him exactly three days and 2 hours to finish- according to Mingyu, Wonwoo’s roommate. Wonwoo sat at his desk for the majority of that time, sighing in frustration every so often, and tossing a crumpled piece of paper behind him when his writing wasn’t sufficient in describing his love for her. That letter was his pride and joy, and hopefully, Caitlin would see how much he cared. He finished writing the letter at three in the morning, jumping to his feet with the paper in his hands, a grin on his face despite his tousled hair and circles under his eyes. It was perfect.
That morning, he sat outside in the hallway once Caitlin walked back to her room at lunchtime. He gnawed on his lower lip as his fingers subconsciously drummed against his knees in random patterns. For each second that inched by, he could feel his chest tighten with anxiousness.
The door opened a few minutes later and she stepped into the hallway while Wonwoo scrambled to his feet with an eager, “So?”
She frowned in confusion, taking a slight step backward into her room because of his close proximity. “So, what?” She replied.
“What’s your answer? For the letter?” Wonwoo asked, the anxiety returning at her statement. Was she pretending not to know he wrote the letter because she didn’t like him?
“Oh,” her lips curled into a smile. “You know who wrote it? Tell him that was the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. My answer’s yes.”
Wonwoo’s frozen in place, shock preventing his from answering, or moving. Oh, no. I didn’t sign it.
Caitlin gently pushed past him, reaching around him so she could close her door. “I’ll see you later, Wonwoo.” She waved slightly as she started down the hall.
“How could I be so stupid?!” Wonwoo exclaimed, angrily pacing back and forth in front of T.V as he ranted to Mingyu. “I spend hours pouring my heart into that letter, and now she thinks some other guy wrote it for her just because I didn’t sign it!” He spun around to face Mingyu, who’s sprawled on the couch with a bored expression on his face.
“Wonwoo, I honestly don’t care,” Mingyu replied, craning his neck as he tried to peer around Wonwoo’s form so he could watch the movie playing. “She might just see you as a friend.”
Wonwoo ignored Mingyu’s last statement, choosing to continue his rant, “Give me some advice! Please!” Wonwoo crossed his arms, leaning closer to the T.V screen until Mingyu’s view was sufficiently blocked by his body. “I’m not moving until you give me an answer I can work with.”
Mingyu grabbed a nearby throw pillow, chucking it at Wonwoo while grumbling under his breath. “You’re a pain in my ass, you know that right?” Mingyu groaned, flopping backward into the couch cushions with his arm draped over his eyes. “Just serenade her or something.”
“She’d run away screaming. I can rap better than I can sing.” Wonwoo twisted around to shut the T.V off before collapsing on the couch next to Mingyu.
“Tie her to a chair then. But not one of those rolling ones, though.”
Wonwoo rolled his eyes. “Oh, yes. Because nothing says “I love you,” by tying her to a chair and forcing her to listen to me sing to her. I’d be lucky if I didn’t get a restraining order afterward.”
“I have an idea,” Seungcheol offered, appearing in the kitchen doorway with a bag of chips in his hand.
Wonwoo glanced between Mingyu and Seungcheol, a frown on his face. “Did you invite him over? I told you to let me know who was coming over before they showed up.” He directed his question at Mingyu.
He shrugged. “Nope. He just lets himself in.”
Wonwoo turned toward Seungcheol. “You were saying you had an idea?”
Seungcheol grinned around a handful of chips. “This is going to be so romantic.”
Your eyes scanned over the neatly-written letter, it was almost as if it was typed, except his s’s were closer together and the n’s looked more like h’s. You could almost imagine your secret admirer carefully writing the letter, making sure that every sentence is in a straight line and that his handwriting stayed a constant size throughout. You thought it was adorable, but as you finished the letter, your gaze fell on the blank space below the multiple paragraphs. You wondered why he didn’t sign his name, I mean, even a simple, “love, Your Secret Admirer,” would do. Sure, it was slightly cliché, but everything written above showed that his love for you was nothing but genuine. So why not sign it?
Three quick knocks on your dorm door interrupted your thoughts. You glanced up at the door, standing up a moment later as you fold the letter and set it aside. You strode over to the door and opened it, only to find that the doorway’s empty. You immediately frowned in confusion, then poked your head out of the door, looking down both the left and right sides of the hallway, except they’re empty as well.
Weird. You think to yourself, about to step back inside. Then you saw a small, white bundle of fur on the carpet in front of the door.
“Oh my gosh!” You squealed, bending down to scoop the tiny kitten into your arms all while cooing, “You’re so cute! I wonder who your owner is…” You noticed a small pink bow in place of a collar, and a scrap piece of paper attached to the silk bow with a safety pin.
You unfold the paper, reading aloud, “We’d make the purrfect couple.” You immediately burst into a fit of laughter.
“Was that too cheesy?” A deep voice asked, a tinge of agitation in his voice at your laughter.
“Wonwoo?” You questioned, dropping the piece of paper once you make eye-contact with him. “You did this?” You motioned to the kitten purring softly in your arms. “How did you know I’ve wanted a cat?”
His cheeks turned a light shade of red as he reached up to rub the back of his neck, shyly staring at his shoes when he answers, “You mentioned it in one of our conversations…”
“I did?” You were surprised, you faintly recalled mentioning it a while back, but you definitely didn’t expect him to remember such an insignificant detail.
“Yeah.” His face flushed a deeper shade of red while his eyes lock with yours. “Um, so, I was-I was wondering if you’d, maybe, like to go out on a date with me?” His voice progressively gets quieter as he spoke, almost as if he was even shyer now that you were making eye-contact.
You’re subconsciously stroking the kitten while he talked, only pausing to smile at him when he glanced up at you, something that only seems to make Wonwoo more nervous. “I’d love to.”
All the tension seemed to leave his body at your answer, and his reserved smile shifted into a bright grin. “Really?” His eyes lit up in happiness. “I can’t wait!” He exclaimed loudly, then faltered for a brief moment, looking flustered and embarrassed before he announced in a softer tone, “I mean, I’ll pick you up at seven.”
“Thank you,” you replied, then elaborated at his confused expression. “For the kitten and the letter. I think it was really sweet.” You took a step back into your room, holding the door open as you watched him walk backward down the hallway. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” You called after him, suppressing your laughter when he waved enthusiastically in response.
“You-you too!” He stuttered, flashing one last grin at you before he turned the corner.
You leaned against the doorframe, staring down at the kitten as a sigh escaped your lips. “I think I’m already in love.”

Who is (are) your ult bias(es) and why? (i wanna read these): Reasons why I love Wonwoo: - Love his rapping style; his deep voice really fits the package too. - Also, his singing voice is A1; he can sing my ass to SLEEP. - This man loves to read and that is quality I find very refreshing. - He is so quiet, but really loves his SVT members and takes care of them :’) - A MAN OF SELF-CONFIDENCE I’M LIKE YES - Gotta love the way his nose crinkles when he laughs - His aegyo is actually so cute I wanna hold him :/ - CUTE WITH HIS GLASSES I LOVE WHEN HE WEARS HIS GLASSES - I see myself in him because he is quiet, but really does open up and has a good time. - A man who can own up anything is someone I am very proud of. Give me a kpop song that you would associate with blue: Odd Eye by SHINee. The chorus has a very mysterious vibe with dissonance which gives me a very vibrant blue color.
Give me a kpop album you would associate with red: I’m actually gonna say Press It by Taemin. Literally when I’m in my own world and listening to this album, I have red tones in my mind.

Do you listen to other korean artists that aren’t in kpop groups? If so who? and How did you find them?: I listen to Beenzino and Dean. I found out about Beenzino through my friend Arleen and I found out about Dean through Alex. I want to get into more solo artists (I’ve been looking into Heize lately), but it takes me forever to do so :/
What makes you stan a kpop group?: First off, I have to like the music. If I don’t like the music, I’m just kind of like “eh”. That is really the only thing, to be honest. Everything else is just a plus.
Out of the big three, which company do you favor production wise (music video themes, instrumentals, and concepts, not management lol cause we all know how that is): Probably SM. It might be biased because I like a lot more groups in SM compared to the other two, but I also think conceptual they have a lot of cool concepts that are also very pleasing to the eye. Also, musically I think SM groups are much stronger compared to the other two based on my own taste in music.
Favorite comeback of all time?: This is so hard omfg! I don’t necessarily have an order to which is my favorite, but my top three would probably have to be Seventeen’s Love & Letter Repackage, SHINee’s 1 of 1, and BTS’ Wings. Those comebacks were on repeat for weeks when they came out.
What is a group you think is slept on and needs more love? Here’s your chance to promote them :) : Here we GO! There are so many groups, but I’m gonna say Day6 because I feel like their music is very enjoyable for anybody. If you like alternative music with a very pop vibe to it, then I highly recommend. They got HARMONIZES, they are TALENTED MUSICIANS, they WRITE AND COMPOSE THEIR OWN SHIT, and they are OVERALL SUCH SWEET GUYS AND DESERVE THE WORLD! I am a big fan of groups/bands that produce and write their own content so I am highly recommending them! STAN TALENT!
