i didn’t have the heart to tell you that i don’t see it any other way. you call it ramblings, i call it poetry. you call it loneliness, i call it necessary memories to remind you that even if we’re both away and apart, i’ll always stay by your side. i didn’t have the heart to tell you that i haven’t been writing because my heart has been everywhere. ever since i cut my hair that i loved so much, i realized that there’s far more beautiful things in life than to have hate in your heart. sometimes the anger and frustration that i feel about myself, actually all of the time— baby, you feel it too, don’t you? my fair skinned woman doesn’t like to see me sad, darling, that makes two of us. i dream of hawaiian lips shared under the finest shade, we can have that loft too, your dream studio with enough art supplies to last you a lifetime. i know that life is short and you never really considered yourself as art— i know people make terrible homes, but you’ve always been a canvas of mine, large enough to keep time trapped inside of butterfly wings, fly away with me. i can keep you in my heart, but you’d take that too. and i’d tell you it’s okay, it’ll always be okay. you call it longing, i call it wanting to feel like we belong somewhere. if you’re ever lost and you’re without a home, you can always count on me to show you how to get there. we’re just two souls that managed to fall in love, just two doves that couldn’t get enough, just writers trying to write ourselves into something much more pretty— tears can fill up a river, but your love will always fill up my smile. you call it hope, i call it my dreams inside of one tiny body. words can give us the strength to go on, so i know you’re not mine right now, but in truth? you’ll always be mine. and i’m not afraid to tell it to the next guy or the next guy. words can give us strength and love can get us high. sometimes when i’m falling in my dreams and i’m about to wake up, i always see your face and that’s enough to keep me happy. i know that i don’t write as much anymore, but that doesn’t stop me from adoring you. i know the world is going crazy right now, but even if it’s just a simple phone call to remind me that i am still in love with this helpless romantic, i love the way that you snore. i guess i’m helpless too. if this is the last sound i hear before i die, at least i know that i loved her right.
