A wonderfully compact and handsomely architectural plant for a well drained soil; getting to around 30cm (1’) tall and 60cm (2’) wide when fully grown, but commonly half of this. . I’ve found that it does reasonably well in part-shade, but definitely seems better in the sun. Good drainage is important though. I like it best when not in flower. The shape of the plant and the alternating opposite pairs of leaves really stand out, highlighting the architecture of the plant. Somewhere between a shrub and a herbaceous perennial, perhaps best describes as a sub-shrub. . Handsome, glaucus, evergreen foliage, which is contrasted very pleasingly with terminal clusters of acid-green flowers in summer. . Like most Euphorbia, it produces a sticky white sap when cut. This sap is a skin and eye irritant and harmful if ingested. Be sure to take adequate precautions when working with these plants and you should be fine. .
