back story.

born and raised to a working class family in colombia, eva knows a lot about what it takes to keep food on the table. she's not naive or sheltered and has lived through more poverty than most assume. despite being the middle child of five out-there sisters, she’s always lived life at the centre of her family’s stage rather than the overshadowed forgotten one in no-man’s-land. for as long as she can remember, she’s always strived to get out of colombia and go and see the world. she was the first of the rodriguez daughters to consider it and the first to achieve it too.  when eva turned eighteen, she made the leap to move to the states. her way in was through studying law - she’d always been an intelligent girl and her parents pushed all of the girls to aim high and take education seriously. eva’s grades were good to the point of making NYU and that’s where she operated for the beginning of her young adult life. don’t be fooled, though, she wasn't the type of law student to slave over her revision day and night, barely seeing the light of day. eva knew that in the real world, opportunity came to those who looked for it. not those who waited around and played by the rules. she was absolutely going to take advantage of the high profile her city had to offer and often found herself in exclusive parties, hot spots and operating in groups of successful people.  it was a small gathering at a friend of a friend’s house on the west village where she met her boyfriend and husband-to-be: charles hamilton. she’d never admit it but she’d heard about him months before she saw him; the young entrepreneur taking his father’s decaying music venue into a fully fledged label. he was promising. forbes loved him. hollywood loved him. therefore, eva was pretty sure she could love him too. not once did she crumble or show nervousness, though. she knew her own worth and didn’t chase him, it was charles who approached her that night...which made the rest easy.

28204!  Not quite caught up, but much closer than yesterday!

“Damian,” Eva snarled.

“You remember me!” the man said, giving her a bright smile.  “And of course, how could I forget the first girl to ever say no to me?”  Something ugly flashed in his eyes, but it was quickly hidden by his smile.  “And naturally I remember you as well, Alexander,” he added, giving Alexander a smile of his own.  “You’re looking well!  I take it this is your new place of employment?  You’ve come up in the world since I knew you.”

“Breaking free of a brainwasher will do that,” Eva snapped.  She struck again, throwing another handful of scarlet lightning toward Damian.  He didn’t move or flinch, and the spell flowed down harmlessly into the ground once more.  Alexander noticed that he had Cheyenne’s long black hair wound around one hand.
