How does this Creating a Community thing work? Are you guys putting together a groupchat or something more like the ace pen pal project...? Just curious. I'm really grateful that you guys are doing this, btw, I just get nervous about meeting new people sometimes

Hi - this is an awesome blog. It is definitely needed/important! I very recently recognized & accepted I’m asexual (at 22) and have many questions. For example, how am I supposed to approach any kind of dating/relationship scenario knowing I have specific boundaries? How am I supposed to communicate with anybody I may have some kind of interest in without feeling like I’m leading them on unfairly? I am open to trying a semi-romantic relationship, but it seems impossible to achieve. Thoughts?

Unfortunately these are all questions without definitive answers. I have always found, however, that opening up a conversation about this early on in a relationship can help to prevent unwelcome situations. Being honest about this, though, is super relieving.

Communicating your boundaires can be scary for aces, especially because the word “asexual” has been associated with some negative connotations. It’s rewarding regardless, because your boundaries will be set.

It may seem impossible, but there are people out there who are okay with it.

I had a boyfriend once who knew I was ace, and asked me out based on who I am. People like this do in fact exist!

And goodness knows there are probably many aces out there looking for and feeling the same things you are.

This is, however, just my biased opinion based on my experiences… But I hope it helped! Don’t give up hope!
