Murderbot Worldbuilding Idea:

NurseryUnits. Also called Nannybots. Childcare constructs designed to raise children. And for the very wealthy, there are MimicNurseUnits - a type of NurseUnit which precisely mimic their charges' legal parents. The same face and body shape, the same voice, and turns of phrase, matching body language, even some amount of staged mimicry of the guardians's actually career work.

After all, wealthy corporates don't have time to raise their own children, but they can't let their children get attached to someone unsuitable. That way lies disaster and space-hippies. It's a neat solution - they get the benefit of their children's love and obedience without having to put in the work of parenting.

Man I gotta be honest here, I have like zero issues with Siuan forcing Moiraine to close the Waygate. It makes sense for her character, it highlights just how far she will go to fulfill her duty to the world (just like Moiraine), and it's no more fucked up than like 80% of the shit that happens in this show.

Everyone screaming about how it's such a horrible violation to hold Moiraine to the oath she made? It's more like leading a misbehaving toddler by the hand over to the toys you're teaching them to pick up. Except in this case the toddler is a potential darkfriend and the scattered toys are the fate of the world.

Moiraine looks more betrayed that Siuan didn't trust her than she did about being forced to close the waygate. And honestly, I don't think Moiraine is all that upset at being held to her oath. The gut-wrenching heartbreak of it all is that Siuan is no longer on her side. But here's the thing, Siuan is right not to trust Moiraine right now.

It's been six months. Six months of Forsaken running around and Moiraine hiding the fact that she can't channel. Six months since Siuan got Logain to Cairhein (which like...let's be honest here, that was no easy task after his very public sentencing) so he could teach and guide Rand with Moiraine's help.

And Siuan still carries that fear and that guilt. Because she is the one who suggested they go to the Eye of the World. Her dreams, manipulated by Ishamael, just like the rest of them are what got them sent there in the first place. So she moves Logain, and she deflects and she travels and she hopes that it's enough to set them on the right path.

Then Lan shows up. He told someone, publicly, about the Dragon Reborn. So she has to make a big show of it or risk them all being exposed.

Except Rand knows nothing. Moiraine is stilled and cannot help him.

But then she isn't. She hid and schemed like she's done with everyone else (but never Siuan) and then she lied. The entire season has been laying the groundwork for what this implies.

Siuan was right to act.

That's what makes it so heartbreaking.

Duty above all.
