1...the character everyone gets wrong all of them. that's an exaggeration, but...i'm really tired of fandom replicating the same dynamics over and over and over with any given pair, like a horrible copy-paste of the same heterosexist, racist tropes from mainstream romance except now with mlm. and then the women are always and forever just supporting lesbian bitches who have no inner lives. for sandman, dream got reduced to this stereotype of wilting maiden and it was always hob being a sunshine angel who saved him. (vs exploring what makes hob both affable and awful - a person who outwardly changes with the times but inwardly keeps the same hungers and impulses he had at the start, a parallel to all the ways that empire shifts to accommodate norms but never relaxes its grip on power.) lucienne the librarian as a hypercompetent asexual replacement mammy mommy figure. hannibal as the strong protector of delicate hothouse orchid will graham. (and all the women are conveniently fun asexuals/lesbians/dead/incapable of ever understanding this totally deep and complex relationship [eyeroll]) apparently people think donald pierce is a dom/top and that his whole masc persona isn't an affectation? and with the hockey gays apparently the mixed-asian man is actually a helpless bottom sub who needs diagnostic labels and a caretaker husband. godddddd.

3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr if i kept screenshots i'd go [more] insane. almost always it's a take about a Black or brown woman being a surrogate for a(n almost always white or at least nonblack) gay couple. like, oh god, we're pretending the afterlives of reproductive slavery AREN'T a horror??

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about if 21st century hob gadling is a #ally it's fully in the "queers who work for raytheon" or "google celebrating indigenous people's day" mode. that man was canonically a venture capitalist in the 1980s, you cannot tell me that he was throwing bricks at stonewall. likewise, everyone in the gay hockey fandom acting like these hockey players would be #progressive. hockey being a notoriously conservative sport and the players making millions. be so for real. like, i get we're playing dolls, but also did we see the same barbie movie.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them. i'm never going to forgive the sandman fandom for ignoring rose walker. sure, comix!rose is flat, but show!rose is *everything.* how did hob become the viewer stand-in?? she's a chosen one, she's an everywoman, she's got a found family, she's the apocalypse, she's the new beginning.

23. ship you've unwillingly come around to. tbh it might be the hockey gays lmao. i wanted so badly not to get into the mainstream popular thing and here we are. possibly also hob/corinthian. like if it's gonna be two white guys they're gonna be awful to each other on some register. but realistically i think any ship is plausible, it's just how well someone makes the case.

1. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?. My answer hasn’t changed in years - it’s Causality (reylo, E, sex slavery, canon compliant). Just absolutely deranged regarding consent and it’s hot and it’s a love story and i love love love the escape from the brothel sequence and Hux's little cameo. Just one of the most insane things I’ve written.

6. What’s the hardest part of the writing process for you? Sustaining momentum. I have so many well written outlines for fics I really desperately want to write but I lost momentum and there’s dust just piling on so many drafts. Breaks my heart.

 8. Does anyone in your personal life know you write fic? if not, would you tell anyone? Lololol my fannish wife and fannish irl friends and my therapist and I’d rather die than tell anyone else.

11. Has a fic you’ve written ever caused issues/controversy? Not really! My rather benign Enfys Nest/Leia Organa received some very interesting hate comments because Star Wars Fandom gotta Star Wars Fandom. I did write something back in my BSG days on livejournal that I wince about now but there wasn’t backlash then. OH!! I had a very viral supercorp fic that opened with sex pollen and on some supercorp messageboards there was a lot of pearl clutching about the consent issues. XOXOX

ship with: Damar duhhh. I don’t really have any other Weyoun ships.

friendship them with: Weyoun’s an interesting character because he’s absolutely ruthless and obviously would go to great lengths (including genocide) to achieve his goals, but he also really wanted to be liked? With that in mind I really enjoyed his relationship with Jake. I would also watch an entire show about Damar and Weyoun casually gossiping at work.

general opinions: I have two favorite DS9 characters and Weyoun is one of them. Every episode he was in he made at least 150% better. Such a unique concept for a villain (a scheming, sycophantic diplomat who can be cloned and brought back to life), played expertly by our Jeff. I just love the rat bastard!! Oh and he’s cute too!!
