A sizable eggplant has appeared on a lab table; a hole big enough for a cup has been cut out of it, and a suitable cup fitted into it. The eggplant itself growls softly--though dully, as if asleep--and the cup is full of something warm. A note is attached: "Autumnal espresso variant, featuring cloved cucurbita pepo cultivar. Perhaps now's as good a time as any for a more private discussion? -- knvw, with all of our strange love <3"

With an exhausted demeanor, Carlos took his time as he slipped back into his office. Hair a mess more than usual and dark circles under his eyes, it was with a delayed response that the scientist took heed of the note. Plopping himself down into his chair, he carefully took hold of the eggplant. While the tantalizing scent of the drink ensnared him, a sleep deprived decision had him attempt to drink the eggplant.

“-sure. Yeah, why not?” he groaned, absently holding the vegetable against his face as he was so painfully rejected of the sweet liquid due to his own state. “Let’s, ah. Let’s um, do this-”

BEGIN TRANSMISSION

Hello, Legion.

I know that you are all accustomed to being contacted by either Alfred or Flynn when regarding these missions, but I thought that it would be much more polite to speak to you directly. You may know me as Flynn's boss. My name is not important now. What's important is your next mission, my dear Legion.

You see, there is something that I've noticed about your little group. For such a large group of superbeings walking different paths- particularly those of Hero and Villain- one would think that there would be plenty of fights. And yet, there do not seem to be any. Why is that? Do you all believe that you can somehow live together as some sort of family? The very thought is utterly stupid. 

Your mission is simple: There will be two teams. One Hero Team, and one Villain Team. Obviously, those walking the Hero path shall be on the Hero Team, and those walking the Villain Path shall be on the Villain Team. Simple, yes? I am sure even with your tiny minds, you will be able to organize yourselves accordingly.

Now, within these teams, there will be pairs. Heroes may pair up with other Heroes, and the same with villains. Neutrals and Anti-Heroes will be perfectly allowed to choose either side. No matter what, everyone must be paired up. If there are an odd number of you, there may be one group of three. Either way, the only pair-ups than cannot happen are those that are Hero and Villain. They are different teams, after all.

Now, the full details of your mission: Each pair will be given two small gems, that they must protect with everything they have. Pairs will battle each other for those gems. A losing pair must give up one of their gems to the winning pair. Individuals of the pair, or both members of the pair may fight. But in the end... if both gems are lost, that pair is out of the game. 

There will also be a point system. For each pair left standing, the corresponding team will gain two points. For each gem the team possesses, it will gain one point. This game shall begin on Thursday and end at midnight (PST) on Sunday. The game can also end if there is only one pair left standing. 

You have today and tomorrow to form your pairs and make a plan. I do hope that you are ready. There shall be no punishments for this mission... but your reward... will be quite excellent, I would think.

way to the dawn - event 2.5

The atmosphere of Kingdom Plaza was actually quite nice to Riku. He loved the city, but he also enjoyed the simplicity of the less bustling life. He could get used to this place, he had determined. He scanned the area, wondering what he would be doing today.

Riku enjoyed the quieter areas of Palaria. He was born and raised in a city, but there was a charm about the quiet atmosphere of the Paralia life he had enjoyed. Riku was not a very sociable person, and he liked the feeling of ease and comfort it provided. He never was good with crowds, though he would never voice that aloud and often pretended otherwise.

Riku always had to be the calm, collected one. Anyhing else would be viewed as weakness, and that was not allowed. Riku felt his mood turning a little sour as he dwelled on all this. He was so into his own mind that the last thing he expected was someone to approach him from behind. He turned sharply.

It happened fast. Too fast. The feeling of someone creeping up behind him, intentional or not, made him jump. He opened the palm of his hand and a strange weapon materialized. Something close to a sword, but Riku would definitely not label it that. He gazed down at the weapon that was not there just a few seconds previously. What... what is that?! Where did it come from?

The instant he took in the details of the weapon, it was gone again. A little nervously, he looked at the person that seemingly approached him. Probably just made a total ass of himself. And made himself look like a freak. A weapon summoning freak.

"Um, sorry about that. I promise it doesn't happen often." He laughed awkwardly, hoping that the person wouldn't shoot him with pepper spray, or run away... or something.
