This story from CNN is eye opening for sure. I'm heavily involved with Wall St. and have been for almost 2 decades now, what I find interesting about this working on both sides of the fence, for the sell-side as a market maker/trader, and most recently working for an exchange on the corporate issuer side, and helping them communicate and market their strategy (stock) to investors as well as find potential investors. Companies believe that if they don't participate in Social Media, and Twitter and blogging in particular they are sheltered from any of this new era media around them. I know this to be a big fat False. When a company - public or private, large or small -is not participating in Social Media, they are letting others control their messaging, and allowing the sentiment to be created by others, or even worse an algorithm. Whether you have a social presence or not, if you are in the public eye for any reason, you can and will be broadcasted. I much rather embrace and tell my story, and if something doesn't jive about me or my company out there, at least I know research can be performed about me or my company from the source, me.
I know, I know, there is something called Reg FD...figure it out.
Stay social...
