maeve's  moving  pretty  quickly  (  and  semi-desperately  )  through  the  crowd  in  the  hopes  of  AVOIDING  RILEY.  she's  pretty  sure  he  hadn't  spotted  her,  but  she  didn't  feel  like  risking  it.  knees  are  bent  slightly  to  make  herself  seem  shorter  in  the  crowd,  and  a  flood  of  relief  washes  over  her  as  she  spots  winnie.  a  buffer.  hands  plop  on  top  of  winnie's  shoulders  and  she  squeezes  (  probably  a  tad  harder  than  she  means  to  ),  a  tight  smile  spreading.  “boy,  i  am  so  glad  to  see  you  !”  she  turns  them  around,  ducking  slightly,  just  to  make  sure  riley  wasn't  hot  on  her  trail.  “are  you  enjoying  the  party  ?”  she  begins  walking  backwards  and  farther  away,  pulling  winnie  with  her.  “YOU  A  CARNIVAL  GIRL  ?”

                   ❝  NO  ,  NO  ,  NO  ,  YOU'RE  NOT  listening  to  me  !  ❞      to  be  fair  ,  neither  was  she  .  this  was  often  how  their  bickering  went  ,  both  type  a  personalities  that  had  been  passed  down  by  their  shared  bloodline  .      ❝  i'm  saying  it's  not  scientifically  possible  that  captain  america  could  ever  beat  thor  in  a  fight  ,  ❞      her  hands  are  moving  in  a  fast  gesture  ,  quite  animatedly  to  prove  her  point  .  she's  about  half  a  pizza  away  from  throwing  it  at  her  dear  cousin  .      ❝  he's  a  god  ,  for  fuck's  sakes  ,  teddy  !  ❞      she  could  feel  her  pulse  raising  ,  adrenaline  pumping  with  how  heated  she  was  getting  over  fictitious  characters  .  an  older  ,  quite  burly  male  turned  around  to  shush  her  shouting  antics  ,  only  for  lennon's  own  hand  to  slip  ,  throwing  her  half  -  eaten  taco  at  the  back  of  his  head  .      ❝  what  i  was  saying  was  —  ❞      but  she  finds  herself  blanched  when  the  large  man  stands  up  ,  towering  over  their  sitting  position  and  soon  enough  ,  the  pregnant  lady  is  jumping  to  her  feet  in  her  own  rage  ,  but  not  without  great  struggle  from  her  large  stomach  ,  fists  at  the  ready  .      ❝  we  got  a  problem  ?  ❞      the  male  says  ,  eyeing  teddy  with  narrowed  eyes  .

millie  sighs  as  she  misses  yet  again.  she  thinks  her  hands  are  TOO  SHAKY  –  not  that  it's  a  carnival  game  designed  for  her  to  lose.  she  sees  a  somewhat  familiar  face  waiting  for  a  turn,  and  she  steps  to  the  side.  “you  can  go,”  she  tells  him  with  a  smile.  “i,  uh,  think  i  need  to  watch  someone  else  go.”

maeve  knows  the  look  of  SOMEONE  WHO  WAS  DRAGGED  HERE  all  too  well,  because  the  look  in  this  man's  eyes  is  the  same  as  the  look  in  hers.  she'd  had  two  beers  in  her  hand  looking  for  kai  for  what  felt  like  ages.  at  this  point,  she'd  buy  him  another  one.  the  bloke  in  front  of  her  seemed  like  he  needed  it  more.  “something  tells  me  you  hate  being  here  as  much  as  i  do,”  she  says,  extending  an  arm  and  offering  him  one  of  her  beers.

being  at  the  temporary  tattoo  station  was  ALL  TOO  FAMILIAR  for  the  two  of  them.  “you  know,  this  is  a  first  for  us.”  not  the  matching  tattoos  –  they  already  had  two  of  them.  just  the  fact  that  these  ones  would  be  temporary.  “i  feel  like  i'm  putting  more  thought  into  this  than  either  of  our  previous  ones.”  a  combination  of  too  much  thought  and  not  enough,  considering  how  she  hadn't  actually  asked  winston  if  he'd  wanted  to  get  a  matching  pair.  “which  one  are  you  feeling  ?”

the  phrase  ‘  HAVE  YOU  HEARD  ’  is  always  a  strange  one  for  brett  to  hear,  because  it  means  he's  either  going  to  hear  about  gossip  (  which  he  doesn't  care  about  )  or  his  third  eye  is  going  to  be  opened  yet  again.  unfortunately,  the  man  beside  him  seems  to  be  fumbling  over  his  words,  and  brett  isn't  exactly  the  most  patient.  “if  you're  going  to  ask  me  if  i  think  aliens  are  trying  to  communicate  with  us  via  ai,  THE  ANSWER  IS  YES.”

“ARE  YOU  STRUGGLING  TO  PICK  SOMETHING  ?”  she  asks  the  man  who  has  kind  of  just  been  surveying  the  area  for  the  past  couple  of  minutes.  “i  don't  mean  to  brag,  but  i  might  have  the  sweetest  tooth  in  all  of  cider  point  !  so  …  if  you  need  any  suggestions  …”

she  can  feel  herself  relaxing  as  she  settles  on  the  ground,  practically  hiding  from  the  rest  of  the  party.  even  he  doesn't  look  as  out  of  place  as  she  feels,  but  stellan's  always  been  the  more  extroverted  of  the  two.  “you  think  i  could  get  into  this  shit  ?  come  on,  let  me  try.  bet  i  could  give  you  a  pretty  smokin'  TRAMP  STAMP.  got  a  sharpie  anywhere  ?”
