NOT WHAT THAT MEANS, DAEMON!!! (Part 1)

Fully charged cameras? Check. All the necessary equipment in the backpacks? Check. Three extra batteries for the cameras in a random empty wash bag since the paranormal always go for batteries first? Check. All Julian needed now was to check the sound on the microphones and for Christian to escape Balthazar’s fussing to film the introduction to their new video: We Went Into A Haunted School Cult!!! 😱😱😱 (We Joined The Top Ranks).
If you asked Daemon, he was not in fact fussing or hovering, but merely making sure Julian was in eyesight to ensure he was safe. After all, his prince was planning on going into a school with a cult dedicated to some random demon. Yes, Julian had done it before, but that was before he became Daemon’s fledgling. Before Daemon knew how close his awaited prince was.
Now that the whole reveal of Vampires and things were settled slightly, Julian and Christian decided to continue with their previous jobs of Paranormal investigators- a title given to them by the viewers. It’s was the first time they had picked up the camera properly after sorting some diplomatic problems. Of course Daemon would be worried about his fledgling. Any good master would be. Especially since the younglings were barely two years old as vampires.
He felt a familiar weight leaning against his chest and snaked a hand around Julian’s waist while he continued to fiddle with the microphone settings.
After ten more minutes, Daemon decide to stop Balthazar from drowning Christian in affections and mentally told him ‘Enough fussing, old friend. Your Christian will be fine as we will be watching closely during their recordings.’,
This got both of them join Julian and him, ready to film their introduction. The plan was for both masters to go with the fledglings without interfering with the video. Stay invisible; be hidden from the cult and the viewers through the use of the Helm vampire powers while the other duo held their investigation.
Just when Daemon was about to turn both him and Balthazar invisible with the gift of the Helm household, Christian got a message from his parents and read it aloud to Julian with a huff as a laugh. “Just got a message from my parents like its our first ever episode again. ’Break a leg, boys!’”
As the younger vampires talk about how it amused them with how the Thornes always treated each new recording as the first one, Daemon had other quieres.
Why would Christian’s parents be wishing the boys harm? Would that not be counterintuitive to what they have tried to do since they were born? Why wouldn’t they send an encouraging message instead like ‘Good luck’, or even a simple ‘Don’t get hurt or killed out there!’?
Voicing his concerns, Daemon asked the young men “Why do your parents wish harm upon you? They are usually quite protective if the first time we met them is any indicator.”
“What are you on about? They were wishing us luck.” Julian replied with slightly furrowed brows and tilted head.
“Do you mean the message they sent us, Daemon?” Christian asks for clarification on what Daemon was assuming a threat.
“Yes.”, The vampire king stated simply “They want you to break your legs. How could it be anything but a threat to you both, they are wishing you bad luck.”
“Ooooh” the bloggers say in synchronisation while looking at each other in realisation.
“It actually means that they want you to have good luck, Daemon,” Julian says with Christian explaining further “No body really knows where it originates from, but the most common theory is that when ensemble actors were queued to perform, they had to stay behind a ‘leg line’ if they weren’t performing, meaning they wouldn’t get paid. To break the ‘leg line’ would be when they performed and got paid. Pretty much it was just wishing for a performer to get to perform and get paid, leading to the saying as a good luck charm for performers.”
As Daemon nodded in response to the explanation, Julian asked Christian “why do you just know that off the top of your head?”
Christian shrugged and plainly said “I got board and started looking up random Wikipedia pages on the drive here.”
“That is… a very you thing to do. Fair enough.” Julian says, “Anyways, shall we record the introduction now, or are we going to stand here all night and not even get past the woods to the school entrance?”

First time I've actually made something like this; also took longer than I thought but I finally got it done. Anyway, it's about the mythological origins of one of my fantasy worlds, a world known as Everakal.

Just finished @raythereign-blog ‘s Ever Dark!
I first heard about Raythe Reign a few years ago on Spotify with their Dragon’s Reign Audiobook. And I was captivated. By that point Raythe has been one of my favourite authors.
But anyways I just finished Ever Dark. And it was- I don’t even have the words to say it! It was an unbelievably spectacular read! The Voice actors played their characters phenomenally. So shout out to them too. I cannot wait to start Ever Dark Academy!
