Safety First

I wipe my eyes of sleep Coffee turned out bitter today Put on the same pair of black jeans Sit and stare at the wall for an hour or two and start the same day I've been repeating for years Nothing changes

I have become a creature of routine letting chaos fade to a fond memory

Stand behind the grill, fryer, the flat top race the clock to keep service alive There is no failure tolerated in this kitchen A whole different person here then anywhere elsewhere Seven days a week, for at least eight hours a day I'm confident and I'm alive and I'm free

And when I'm home I don't know what to do with myself So I shower and go to bed Yell at a screen for a few hours and do this all over again tomorrow

It's not much, but at least I'm safe.
