Everything Asian: A Novel by Sung J. Woo. 7.4/10

6 pack of beer joke made here and in Skin Deep. Several characters are similar to Skin Deep’s Siobhan’s. It’s cynical and judgmental and I don’t like it. Same with references to PIs and a private women’s college in upstate NY. I don’t know if that book primed me, but it’s hard to overlook it.

I do love the representation in this book. I do like having their immigrant struggle be represented. I don’t like having Asian representation with most characters being unlikable. I do like how this is a typical teen story though. It represents as is and doesn’t matter about representation. It just has POC characters and tells it as it is.

Author just spoiled Murder on the Orient Express.
