These were her questions!
1) what is your fondest childhood memory?
I always remember going to Astoria on the way to the beach for clam digging. I don't know what it is about that town, but it was always my favorite part of the trip. I would pull out my moms phone, and time how long it took us to get over that crazy long bridge (7 minutes, on average, with no traffic). When it was just my father, my brother, and myself, we would stop at this custard place and always get treats on the way home.
2) favorite halloween costume?
I made a Lost Boy costume one year, and I wore it for quite a few halloweens. I was the raccoon boy. I took a giant grey hoodie and made a big puffy tail for it, and sewed ears onto the top with cardboard inside so they would stand up.
3) a book that changed your life or strongly affected you?
The Realm of Possibility by David Levithan. It's a book of short stories written in a poetic format. That book got me through some hard times. I connected to it on so many levels, and it has many different kinds of stories in it. Some are beautiful and poetic, others sad and heartbreaking, and others are funny and cheerful. If you haven't read it, I strongly recommend that you do.
4) favorite movie that’s so bad it’s good?
I can't think of many movies that I've watched that were like this. Ice Spiders, maybe? That one was quite interesting and funny and full of weird laughs.
5) do you have guilty pleasure tv show?
Oh gosh, I got hooked on some guilty pleasure dumb shows.
Greys Anatomy was a big one, and once I finished all they had on Netflix, I started Gossip Girl. I'm almost finished with that one now, though, so I'm going to have to find another show to watch.
6) do you like thunderstorms?
I never experienced a true thunderstorm until I moved to Ohio. They are so different here than they are in Washington! They light up the whole sky and you can see big bolts of them, and they are much much MUCH louder and closer. They are scary and I really love to watch them.
7) what is your worst irrational fear?
I know most people have a dislike for needles, but I'd consider mine almost a phobia. It takes a lot for me to get blood drawn or get shots, and I can't even look at them or touch them (besides sewing needles). Anything that's actually meant for stabbing sends me into a panic. Just thinking about them makes it hard to breathe and I get all uncomfortable. Idk, I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's pretty bad.
8) describe your aesthetic as though you were a character in a book.
This one is tricky to me, and I'm not sure how to go about it. I can describe myself? Close enough? Ah, I'm so bad at this.
I guess, if I was a character in a book, I would be one of those quiet girls. I listen a lot, and I'm a bit of a homebody. I prefer being around a few people, rather than large groups. I would always be sitting on the floor, and I always have gum and snacks and hand sanitizer and kleenex and other things moms tend to have in their purse (no, I don't have kids, I have fish). I also wear dresses. I'm either in a dress, or yoga pants and a baggy shirt. Is that close enough to what the question asked? Sure? Yeah? Okay.
9) who is your favorite literary heroine/hero?
I would have to say Lani Garver, from the book What Happened to Lani Garver by Carol Plum-Ucci. They are androgynous, as part of the mystery about who this person is. They come out of nowhere, and it's a story about fallen angels, in a real life setting. Like, by fallen angels, it means people who are good and kind and selfless, and who come and go. It's not a book about angels. It's part about figuring out who Lani is, and part about Claire and her finding herself, and finding out how to take better care of herself when times get tough.
10) do you believe in ghosts?
I believe that anything is possible, and that anything that had powers or a gift unlike our own talents, could hide if it wanted to.
And now for my questions!
1. where is your 'safe/happy' place to be?
2. tell us about a time when you were angry (and I mean, really angry)
3. have you ever tried something new that you thought you wouldn't like, and liked it?
4. what quote/slogan/catchphrase describes you or your life the best?
5. when washing your hair, do you follow the 'rinse and repeat' direction on the shampoo bottle?
6. have you ever shoplifted something?
7. describe the first date you ever went on
8. what's your favorite kind of cereal, and what kind of milk do you put into it?
9. do you have any nervous or fidgety habits?
10. how often do you rearrange your house/room?
