911 EMERGENCY: Calling all arrangers/orchestrators/any music students with a good ear!
Okay, we have a reading potentially coming up of an established piece (details to follow privately), but we need to drastically reduce the size of the orchestration into one for an 8-piece band (and do a little score editing as well to match our edition of the script).
Four numbers, out of several in a very huge score, have already been done, but the guy that I got to do the job has been saddled with an increasingly busy semester at school, and consequently has informed me that if I want this done in a timely manner I may need to look for someone else, and that he could still work on it, but I could not expect results very soon. With no deadline in sight at the time, I was able to wave it off, but now there is possibly a deadline in the offing, and I just can’t risk the wait.
WHAT WE NEED:
Seeking someone, preferably a music student who needs a gig, with:
A good ear
Decent knowledge of orchestration and arrangement, particularly in transferring parts from classical (for lack of a better term) to rock instrumentation
The ability to work quickly and efficiently with a deadline in mind (if you have a very busy work/school/social life, this is not a job for you)
Access to and substantial familiarity with programs such as Finale, Sibelius, or anything that can accept importing and editing of a MusicXML file
Familiarity with the score in question is a plus, but definitely not a necessity, as the source materials, audio clips, and more will be provided to further familiarize you with the work in question and what you will need to do
Access to other music students and/or musicians to a) assemble a band, b) hear the score in its reduced form, and c) make adjustments as necessary, is a plus, bordering on a requirement
COMPENSATION:
As this is a reading/workshop setting, salary is negotiable.
Please help!
I need the help of someone skilled in the use of Finale 2014c. Working up sheet music for something with next to no music theory under my boot, and it's being a pain in the butt.
