Ethan falling in Vanessa´s spell
Fascination. Ethan is aware of the fascination Vanessa Ives has on other individuals, even dark entities, when Sir Malcolm tells him that she in certain trances is "very desirable."
A vampire knows the name, Vanessa, Vanessa, Vanessa.
This will be the episode, 1x03 in which Ethan really begins to obsess over the name of the mermaid aka Miss Ives as the desirable and fatal woman that every mortal or immortal being madly desires.
Ethan´s observation. His eyes will be the windows of his soul for now on.
Vanessa notices how Ethan watches her, like the vampire who is obsessed with her, she can feel the weight of being the object of desire of all those around her.
The true identity is revealed. Vanessa is not just a mysterious woman, but that dreaded seductive mermaid that everyone fears and loves.
She is the divine woman for whom any man would give everything, she is the forbidden and unattainable woman. A kind of Helen of Troy.
Especially for Ethan, who feels like he's starting to know her now.
Attraction. Ethan is attracted to Vanessa, interested in spending more time in her company. He knows that she is the coveted piece. The woman among women of London.The most difficult and desirable. His interest is growing up.
Total fascination. Ethan is dazzled by Vanessa, the interest he sees the evil entities have for Vanessa is a somewhat unnatural starting point, but knowing it more and more Ethan realizes why. Vanessa´s absolute beauty, her power, her strength. The dark ones want her, he wants her too.

Revelation. Sir Malcolm reveals something about Vanessa that goes beyond what all of them, including Vanessa, thought.

Vanessa smiles, accomplice. Ethan offers her friendship, and Vanessa acceptance.
But when he tells her that Brona is ill and doomed, the last point of Ethan's fascination takes place in this first season before giving rise to the most desperate love for Vanessa in this series. Vanessa shows a cruel profile in this single scene.
So she does not hide her true fatal nature, her mermaid seduction, the spell that she seems to have cast against Ethan Chandler.
Cruelty. Vanessa tells that Ethan loves Brona because she is "a lost cause", unconsciously implying that Brona is someone shorter and more miserable, someone who is not equal to her, neither as a woman. She would never be a rival for Vanessa Ives.
Vanessa Ives is thus a being full of shadows as well as lights. But few notice this cruel leave of Vanessa towards Brona.
Ethan does, but smiles at Vanessa.
