Villainous America
Steve Rogers had put himself in the ice. He’d gone up in that plane and wanted nothing more than for the world to burn, but he’d held back that desire for the sole reason that he cared about his men. He cared about Peggy. He cared about people more than just the man he’d loved so deeply it went beyond anything named.
But then he woke up.
They wanted him to be the hero. They wanted him to save the world that had left him behind. That hadn’t found him for 70 years. He smiled and nodded and agreed. Thankful for the lessons he’d had to take in pretending to be someone he wasn’t.
And now the world was saved. He was the hero again, though he didn’t care about that. No, he had a link to the past now. Not Peggy who was old and forgot him, but Tony. Older than howard had been, but still so young in his thoughts. His ideals. Steve wanted to take him apart. Make him lose all faith as Steve had. Instead, Steve smiled and did his ‘aw shucks’ routine. No one seemed to know what Steve had been like. How he’d been a mouthy little shit too dumb to run from a fight. And it led to being trusted. To Tony being willing to see Steve as a friend. A confidante. Someone to trust when all Steve wanted was to ruin this last bit and keep it close to his chest. Refuse to let it go.
“Hey Jarvis,” He called as he entered the tower, smiling his charming USO smile as he looked up at the AI’s cameras, “Is Tony in?”
