End the Stigma

I am really tired of all the stigma surrounding people (myself included) with metal illnesses; that we’re incompetent, dangerous, and all sorts of negative things. May also happens to be mental health month. 

So I have an idea. I would like people with mental illnesses to upload a picture of themselves holding up a sign that goes something like this

Hello my name is [name] and I have a mental illness [or say which ones]. I’m also [all these positive things- talents/personality traits/nice things]. #endthestigma

Upload it to tumblr/twitter/whathaveyou with the hashtag “endthestigma” and maybe even some facts about metal health/illness. 

If anybody has any ideas to improve this before I start doing it, please let me know.

I think it’s heteronormativity that made that the norm, but no, the dynamics don’t have to work that way.

i think you may have commented on the wrong post but if heteronormativity made mimes the norm i suddenly find myself pro-heteronormativity

OMG THAT BE HORRIBLE but like for sure they’ve seen the stoner stuff in the main tags of every social media site

I think I’d rather them read Slave Bear than see all the stoner stuff because at least Slave Bear was a yuletide gift done to someone’s exact requirements who probably got a big kick out of it. There was work and perhaps some love put into that, I’m guessing.
