Tennessee's Super Breeders: Serial impregnator Desmond Hatchett, of Knoxville, has fathered (as of June 2012) at least 24 kids by at least 11 women, but he is hardly Tennessee's most prolific. A June (2012) story (citing reporting by WMC-TV and WREG-TV in Memphis) revealed that Terry Turnage of Memphis has 23 children by 17 women, and Richard Colbert (also from Memphis) has 25 with 18 women. Various child support court orders have been ignored, with one woman claiming the most she had ever seen from Turnage was $9. [Daily Mail (London), 6-14-2012]

According to the groundbreaking book on evolutionary biology ”The Selfish Gene” by biologist Richard Dawkins (yes, THAT Richard Dawkins) these males (I won’t call them “men” because a man takes care of his family) are “biologically successful”. The theory is that males and females are in a kind of competition. Males desire to father as many offspring as possible with the least investment of their own resources. It is easy to see the logic here from a purely biological point of view. The “selfish genes” of those men far outnumber of most other human males thereby giving them much more genetic influence in the future of humanity. This is rather sad for our species.
