I beg you. Never touch drugs. Other than the obvious reasons not to like the fact you're hurting yourself, you can die, & you'll hurt the people around you, I'm gonna tell you about the things that no one else will. When & if you're lucky enough to beat an addiction you will lose & gain some things. After the dopesickness & the withdrawals you will be left with all the emotional damage, physical damage, and social damage. Those "friends" you use to get fucked up with will stop talking to you gradually. They stuck around for the substances, not your company. You gain the knowledge of knowing who's real or not but you will lose your mind bc loneliness will set in. Depending on the drug your were once addicted to, you will sweat & shiver at the name of it coming on the news or opening a drawer only to remember that tin foil is also used for cooking in the kitchen but that was the farthest thought from your mind. You'll feel empty. You'll feel like you're not even that same person anymore & that's true, you're not. You have to find yourself. You'll be faced with people who think you're a buzz kill when you don't want to drink but little do they know that you picked up a bottle when the drugs ran out & drinking was no longer a fun thing but more so a filler/replacement. You'll meet people who will slander drug addicts & say how much of a low life they are right in front of you not knowing you were once one and the path that led you to drugs was very dark & sad. You'll have life long affects of the drugs. You'll be more prone to relapse, depression, anxiety, and many other mental illnesses. If you suffered from these before the drugs then you're gonna face hell. But let me say this. You will feel like you're on top of the world once you find yourself again. You will love being sober just as much as you use to love getting high. You will meet new people & meet people who are actually friends. You will see who was true and who stuck by you at your worst. You will gain freedom, courage, and dignity you thought you lost. You will feel reborn. And last but not least, if you're reading this and you are still battling addiction, you CAN beat it! - an ex-junkie who found her way (roughly 2 years clean)
