Weird. I just checked my tumblr and it simultaneously posted 4 songs from ex.fm that i probably blogged more than a year ago? No idea. But the last few song posts weren't me, in real-time. Leaving them up to see what the deal is.

Music discovery startup Ex.fm has been acquired by Rhapsody for an undisclosed amount, the companies announced today.

Ex.fm’s service attempted to catalog every song you encountered while browsing the Internet; it then used that data to give you recommendations. Plenty of other services provide the same or similar functionality, including most recently Shazam for desktops, as VentureBeat previously reported.

Shame ex.fm is removing the feature to browse and love songs. I can still scrobble but I'll not search songs anymore :(

Ну что, 15 января 2014 года, после 4 лет работы, закрывается музыкальный сервис ex.fm. Тягаться с гигантами легальной музыки и правообладателями, говорят, стало невозможно.

Для тех, кто пользовался сайтом, создатели ex.fm сделали набор инструментов для экспорта данных (loved songs, followed sites и другое).

Работоспособным останется только немножко странное расширение ex.fm для Chrome, основные возможности которого я бы обозначила так: скробблит и ищет текущую проигрываемую песню в Spotify и Rdio.

(Надеюсь, та же участь не постигнет российский tracksflow.com, который вообще как-то в тупике).
