exce-: a new gender system
i’ve been wanting to coin these for awhile now! i currently don’t have the inspiration to create flags, but i hopefully will soon.
exce- is a gender prefix that specifies someone’s gender is very close to pangender, with the exception of a certain category of genders. this is different from penultigender in that, instead of only excluding one specific gender, exce- genders exclude multiple genders that share a common characteristic.
excemelle: a person who identifies with every gender within their culture and experiences except for genders that are defined by being female or a woman/girl; a person who is nearly pangender, but does not identify as female or a woman/girl. this person still experiences feminine genders, but not those that are specifically female.
excemasle: a person who identifies with every gender within their culture and experiences except for genders that are defined by being male or a man/boy; a person who is nearly pangender, but does not identify as male or a man/boy. this person still experiences masculine genders, but not those that are specifically male.
“exce” is taken from the word “except”, “melle” is from old french “femelle”, and “masle” is also old french. i didn’t want to just use male/female or boy/girl because, at first glance, that makes these labels seem related to male/female.
personally, i am excemelle! i identify as all genders except for those that specify femaleness - for example, i don’t identify with the term ‘demigirl’ because that would mean part of my gender is girl/woman, but i do identify with the term ‘demifeminine’ because part of my gender is feminine!
more terms in this system could be coined for any gender characteristic! i personally felt a need for excemelle and decided to coin excemasle to be its counterpart, but this could extend to literally anything.
