re-reading crime and punishment for a school project and realising the section near the end about Svidrigailov overcoming death by killing himself sounds a lot like Nikolai (bsd not author) and also that Fyodor's ability makes a lot of sense in relation to Raskolnikov especially at the end where he, after facing his crime and punishment, is able to start a new life and overcome it. Meanwhile Svidrigailov chooses to escape his crime and die rather than face the consequences of what he's done (that malicious bastard) and so he dies while Raskolnikov lives.

This isn't entirely relevant to Fyodor's character as he's based off the narrator from Notes From Underground but I think it could be an interpretation of his ability.
