Kami makes comeback with first full-length solo album Me, Myself & You

Gal.actic’s Kami has made her comeback with her first full-length solo album! Kami debuted as a soloist in August 2019 with her debut solo mini-album Uncover; Touch and has released two more mini-albums plus a number of singles, both through the Portal digital music projects and ones promoted on music shows, since. Kami has now taken on the challenge of a full-length album for her next solo project.

Me, Myself & You, as the album is titled, begins personally with an intro track where Kami asserts her independence and her determination to “Run & Run”. The album takes a dip in mood for the next song to anger and bitterness before lifting back up into a series of more bold, confident, and, at times, confrontational songs. “Kitty Run”, with lyrics by Knight’s Duri, portrays confidence before “Shut Up & Groove”, featuring Knight’s Taeyong who also helped to write and produce the track with Kami transitions the album into a more mellow sound. “Dark Clouds”, featuring Origin’s Max and lyricwritten by Fuse’s Minjung (who also helped to lyricwrite “Make Love” and to produce “Nunu Nana”) and produced by Fuse’s Sooah, continues this switch to mellowness that plays the album out to its end. Kami plays a hand in the lyrics and production of many songs on the album, as she has on previous projects.

The album’s promoted single, “Nunu Nana’, is a confident pop hip hop written by Kami and partially produced by Kami and Fuse’s Minjung. “Nunu Nana” will be promoted on music shows for three weeks and b-side track “Kitty Run” will also be staged for the first week of promotions. It has been reported that Kami created the choreography for both songs she will be staging.

Kami and Chan release Dimensions Portal song “Jenga”

Gal.actic’s Kami and Alien’s Chan have released a new song through Dimensions Portal titled “Jenga”. “Jenga” blends jazz with elements of chill coffeehouse R&B for a track using metaphors related to the game of Jenga to describe the fear of falling as a relationship one has built a reliance on comes to an end. The music video follows with these themes, showing one version of Kami singing atop a number of towers while another shows disinterest in her perilous situation and playing chess. The music video includes visual callbacks to the music video for “Don’t Know You”, a b-side off of Kami’s latest mini-album. Chan does not appear in the music video, but performs a highlighted rap verse in the track. Kami is credited as a lyricist along with Knight’s Taeyong. Taeyong also composed and produced the track.

Our Songs releases first round tracks

base TV show Our Songs has released the first tracks composed by the show’s cast onto streaming sites today! The show was announced earlier this month to begin airing this upcoming Friday and fans have been steadily offered a peak into what to expect over the last few weeks with the release of teaser images of the cast and the release of special cover videos by each cast member.

As of now, an EP (Our Songs, Part 1: Identity/Introduction) has been uploaded on streaming sites with the eight songs created by the contestants for the first round of the show. Voting has opened up on the show’s website for the public to vote for their favorite track. This will be the first round of voting to determine the winner of the show’s first round.

Kami releases third solo mini-album “C’est La Vie″

Gal.actic’s Kami has dropped her third solo mini-album! Kami has previously released the solo mini-albums Uncover; Touch and Witching Hour; 3am in August of last year and March earlier this year respectively, and she also promoted “Flower Shower” as a standalone single over the summer. Her latest mini-album is titled C’est La Vie, a title which had been, at the time unknown to fans, teased by the title of her recent solo concert That’s Life!

C’est La Vie includes six songs that allow Kami to show her range as a solo artist. The mini-album begins on a strong note with the hard-hitting “Sse Sse Sse”, a rap collaboration featuring Lipstick’s three rappers Minnie, Yonce, and Artemisia, which Minnie and Kami wrote lyrics for. After the title track, the album segues into a more R&B sound with the poppy alt-R&B take on “Outta My Head”, partially produced by Kami and with lyrics contributed to by Kami and Fuse’s Minjung and the sensual “Illusion”, lyric-written by Knight’s Taeyong and partially produced by Kami herself once again. The album ends with the Taeyong and Kami written and produced rap-vocal, R&B-hip hop mix of “Don’t Know You” and the titular “C’est La Vie (That’s LIFE!)” lyric-written and partially produced by Kami.

"How’s This”, a high energy party anthem partially lyric-written and partially produced by Kami, will be the single promoted off of the mini-album. The music video was shot in a club, allowing Kami and the background actors to channel the song’s party energy. Kami will be promoting the track for a week on music shows.

Our Songs releases second round tracks

base TV show Our Songs has released the new tracks composed by the show’s cast for its second round onto streaming sites today! The EP (Our Songs, Part 2: Color / Contrast) has been uploaded on streaming sites with the eight songs created by the contestants for the second round of the show. Voting has opened up on the show’s website for the public to vote for their favorite track. The voting will help to determine the winner of the show’s second round alongside audience votes.

[NEWS] Base TV announces Our Songs

base has announced that the the first show that will be airing during their base TV television block is a idol songwriter competition show called Our Songs. Through a press release, it was confirmed that the concept of the show is to have idol songwriters compete against each other to crown the ultimate idol songwriter. The cast of the show will each release original songs throughout the course of the show that will be evaluated and voted on by in-person and online audiences. A lottery for tickets to the first live filming on September 5 has been opened up on base’s website.

In addition to the news of the show, the confirmed cast list has been released as well. Silhouette’s Youngjoo, Gal.actic’s Kami, Knight’s Taeyong, Origin’s Joohwan, Fuse’s Suji, 7ROPHY’s Eunah, Unity’s Jaewon, and Element’s Sun will be the idol songwriters competing on the show to earn the title of the ultimate idol songwriter.

Our Songs will air every other Friday at 11PM beginning September 4 and the first songs from the show will release August 30 at 6PM.

Kami releases second solo mini-abum “Witching Hour; 3AM”

Gal.actic’s Kami made her solo debut last year with her first mini-album Uncover; Touch. In addition to her promoted track “Touch” from her first album, Kami has also shown different sides of herself with the Portal singles “What You Waiting For” and ‘Sorry”. The girl group member has now made her comeback with her second solo mini-album, showing yet another side of herself with Witching Hour; 3AM.

Witching Hour; 3AM begins with a bombastic rap track before delving into a more tender, and vocally-focused, side of Kami with “Read Me” and “I Wander”, both of which feature rap from Element’s CJ. The mini-album remains more laid back even as Kami returns to her rap roots with “9:30″ and “Slow Down”. The mini-album comes to an end with the somber reminder that “Nothing Lasts Forever”. Kami has her hand in much of the lyrics and production of the album and Silhouette’s Youngjoo also makes an appearance on the credits list as one of the composers of track five, “Slow Down”.

“Success (Don’t Kill My Vibe)” is the track Kami will be promoting off of the mini-album, and it makes its impact with a delicate piano intro before transitioning into an understated instrumental that allows her rap to shine. “Success (Don’t Kill My Vibe)” will be promoted for a week on music shows and b-side track “I Wander” will also be staged solo as an auxiliary track on music shows.

Kami releases comeback solo single “Flower Shower″

Gal.actic’s Kami has made her solo comeback with the release of her new single “Flower Shower”!  “Flower Shower” is an upbeat floral anthem that shows off Kami’s fun side; it serves as a callback to the Kami of 2019′s “Touch” in contrast to the more serious tone of her mini-album release earlier this year. Kami is credited as the lyricist and as one of the producers of the track. She also created the choreography for the song. She will be promoting the single on music shows for two weeks.
