#alwayssmiling Was An Effort Today 14 December 2017 🎶So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye…🎶 Thursday was my last at work in a showcase role as an in-house cancer care exercise physiologist. (‘Economic reasons’ were cited for no longer keeping a dedicated employee in the position. I’m not alone; as a contract casual, I join legions of others who find themselves jobless before Christmas.) It has been a rewarding two-and-a-half years, during which time I have helped and learned from many amazing people, featured in a documentary on cancer and exercise, and communicated the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment to clinic visitors from around Australia and the world. The clinic staff and patients showered me with good tidings and regret - it’s nice to be appreciated by the people on the floor. 🔪😞👋
Naturally I feel a bit dejected, so for now I will enjoy the weather, the festive season, my family; get fitter not fatter; and do the company tax! 🌞💑👫
And… it’s that time again; my third vedolizumab infusion is in the system. I hope I can wean off prednisolone soon without a relapse - side effects are now noticeably present - but stress is a trigger so I need to be careful. My son - bless him - likes to be around after I have an infusion, in case I have a reaction. We opted for thai takeout and he brought my #1 nephew & godson to the party (we broke out Christmas crackers why not?) Giggles galore, a late night and a bit too much wine followed. I feel somewhat foggy this morning - I thought I drank three glasses of wine but had half a bottle plus the neck! Oops 😂. At least Thursday’s breakfast and lunch were looking very healthy and Christmasy. Back on the #temperancetrail today, although the early run has gone by the wayside… 🍓🎄🎅
