Medal Monday! The Stay Puft trail race at Yanchep National Park features a ‘haunted house’ ruin on course and, accordingly, the medal sports a marshmallow ghost! The cool thing is that the five medals from the Summer Series are jigsaw pieces which slot together to form one giant medal. 👻
The Perth Trail Series aims to leave only footprints behind (participants get prizes for collecting any litter found on course). This means no disposble cups. Instead, first timers receive a collapsible cup to slip in their kit. Also pretty cool I reckon. 👣
There’s a snap of the easiest section of the trail, but because it was stinking hot and near the end of the race, people are trudging along - including me! (In fact that’s why I took a picture; a rare stretch of safe, wide trail, and I needed a water break.) 📷
I also took a breather and selfie outside the haunted ruin with a lady I’d been running with. She found me on Strava and told me that she later fell and hurt her ankle (her time was still faster than mine). Staying upright & uninjured must be a big part of the challenge as many people went down or took twisting stumbles on rocks or roots. 😱
And today, some Christmas cheer - a card and festive cookie tin from two grateful clients. It is always nice to be appreciated by the people who matter, especially when you strive to be kind and go that extra service yard. 🎅
I am feeling very fatigued after yesterday’s taxing race, so will need another day to recover after being on my feet all day during a demanding day at work. 😅
