Question, would you say that the issues surrounding radical feminism and gun control/ownership are mostly a U.S.A issue? Or do you think it's a global one/applicable to other countries? I hope this doesn't come off as snarky or anything but I am just curious :)

I think it bleeds over into the general issue of whether radical feminism is pacifist of not, and the issue of self defense, but “can I or should I own a gun?” is definitely not a daily concern of most women globally, no.

I think one reason that it could be important to explore this issue from a radical feminist context is because the answer to the question “do women have a right to own guns in a world where people who want them dead already own guns?” is essentially entirely contingent on whether one considers women human being with the inherent right and agency to work to save their own lives or not. 

I hate guns and yet, how could I tell a woman she’s not allowed to use one to protect herself against someone else who has one? As radical feminists, are we really prepared for women to assert their bodily autonomy and protect their safety with deadly force? We talk about rights and name our oppressors, but are we allowed to move against them to retake those rights or to save our own life? 

I fully support and can fully understand women who would never want to own a gun no matter what, and I am not a gun lover or someone who sees them as toys or recreation or a status symbol. I’m just someone who knows first hand what it feels like to have an automatic weapon pointed at me and my family, so this isn’t merely an academic question to me that way it might seem to someone who lives in a place where they don’t have to fear fun violence on a daily basis.
