Wow I hope things get better. I relate a lot to your story, but I can’t say much on here for personal safety issues. I live in the UK too we’ve had near enough the same experience of the Muslim community, although I guess it differs depending on how extreme/lenient they are. To give you a context, our community is the one where if you were anything other than a long skirt, then you might as well have murdered somebody. It’s so extreme it’s unbelievable. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that there are people out here who have gone through (and are still going through) the journey of apostasy [but I haven’t 100% left the religion too]. You don’t have to, but if you ever want to talk, inbox me!
on male vs female asexuality: I find it interesting that "celibate" has become a gendered term. a man who doesn't want to have sex is celibate, but women are often pinned with (psychological or traumatic) "issues", or hormonal "issues", and encouraged to find a cure. I find that really telling, that society expects women to endeavour in every way to be sexually available, while a man can "opt out" with relatively little challenging.

Yes. This is actually a thing. “The Sex Factor” is a reality TV show which will be a contest between 8 men and 8 women to get some kind of major porn contract. This is what a porn culture is: when we further silence the realities of women in porn by broadcasting this rose-tinted view of what life for a porn star is.
A couple of things
No women of color. The ONLY people who have a chance at a “glamorous career” are white women.
Not even a disclaimer about the harms that this could do to someone’s body, emotional health, or reputation.
They are encouraging teenagers to post naked pictures of themselves on social media
Mainstream media including The Daily Beast, Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, are covering this without any criticism whatsoever.
When the porn industry has this much control of the media, these are the types of stories that get attention: carefree, glamorous, unharmed women.
There is a way to make this backfire. Use this as an opportunity to spread the truth. Use your social media platforms to show the reality of porn: the coercion, the abuse, the degradation, and the effects of it all. Don’t let this go unchecked. This is disgusting, but it’s also an opportunity.

it focuses on white women trying to dispel the “purity” myth while completely ignoring, and in the process actively harming, women of colour who have been hypersexualised since birth
and then those white women reclaim slurs like “slut” and “bitch” in order to make themselves seem less pure, less safe, less well-behaved—completely disregarding the fact that the ability to do the ‘pure and innocent’ act is a hell of a lot more than is afforded to women of colour, who are labelled sluts and bitches just for existing
until people (read: white men) stop exotifying, fetishizing, and hypersexualising women and girls of colour, until women and girls of colour are no longer expected to be available for the consumption and subsequent disposal of white men, until the rates of rape and sexual assault for women and girls of colour are not several times that of those for white women and girls, and until girls of colour are no longer denied their childhood due to sexualisation at very young ages, I’m going to find it very hard to give a fuck about white women whining about being seen as inherently pure
