In the midst of me doing a 30-day art challenge right now, I want to take some time to write about this particular significant art piece as I had originally intended to.
I named this art piece “The Shift” as, to me, it greatly signifies the shift that is taking place internally. We are all going through subtle changes in life; the way we think; the way we behave; the way we interact with other people; the way we treat ourselves; the way we feel, etc. We are changing. Whether you believe in it or not, there is a subtle underlying energy that is working on us on a deeper subconscious level that we may not be aware of. But to those who are building their energy on spiritual levels may be able to feel this heightened change. We may even be at the peak of this change.
I feel this happening for me, everyday now. I am more aware of what I think, what I see and how I feel on a daily basis. I am changing. Changing on a deeper level. The artwork greatly depicts this change, as pieces and fragments of old thoughts, past emotions and old beliefs are now re-shifting, re-aligning, and rearranging themselves at the celullar level to match the higher energy. The whole “body” is transforming itself into something new, something that is much more re-energised, and will function accordingly to this new state. It is a work in progress. This “body” is depicted as the centre mandala, with all it’s cells arranged and aligned beautifully. It will once again be perfect and whole in this brand new state, ready to start all over and take charge for the right reasons.
Look at it as a kind of a transformation that is happening naturally. For this transformation to take place, destruction has to happen first. And, as we all know, with destruction comes pain, inherently. That’s part of nature. Destruction is the pre-requisite to change. You can’t change without going through some sort of a process that allows you to break down first. It is meant to bring you to that level of realisation for that change to occur. It is inevitable.
But once this transformation is complete, all will be well again. Whether you understand the concept of “The Shift” or not, it doesn’t matter. Eventually we will all come to that realisation where things are meant to change for the better. And hence, we shall accept this change.
Artwork was done on 100% cotton Saunders Waterford paper; using Daniel Smith watercolours, and other gel and black ink archival pens. Size: 56x76cm.
