This guy needs redemption. With 627 I could understand unless Jumba reprograms him like he did with Felix but Leroy didn’t have a choice. He was considered bad from the get go cause he was meant to be Hamsterviel’s henchman (or men rather). He is the enhanced replica of one of the most dangerous experiments—his predecessor 626, but the difference is that it was a huge issue cause there were 50,000 them (approximately). Leroy didn’t have time to explore the wonders outside of his programming, find love, friendship and a family like Stitch and most of his cousins did during and after all that.
Since the number of clones is just an “approximate number”, I had an idea or a head-canon where all the Leroy clones were captured except for one who somehow evaded the great battle and realizes now that Hämsterviel’s reign is over, he realizes he is free and can do what he was properly programmed to do. Lilo and Stitch eventually find him and he probably gets into a brief scrap with Stitch again, but in Lilo’s eyes, she believes there’s good in him. Instead of surrendering him to the intergalactic police, she wants to try and befriend him. Eventually this works and Leroy learns to become sort of like Stitch’s younger brother. I guess Lilo gets another “dog” cause it makes sense, yadda yadda. I actually had a huge fanfic idea about this a long time ago! I didn’t have concept with the rest of the Leroy clones though.
Surprised we didn’t get that kind of redemption or at least another appearance of Leroy(s) in the spin off cartoons. I haven’t watched either of them but I’m pretty sure 627/Evile got some kind of one in the anime? Either way, it’s a missed opportunity cause I like the idea of Stitch having a brother, the attempt to rehabilitate a mirror of himself: just becoming something better and recognizable than being Stitch’s shadow of what he used to be or the personification of a what if scenario if Hämsterviel captured and owned him.
