Blocked the person who stole my idea. Thinking that if I share snippets again, I might just add
Thing is, most of the times ideas aren't original, they've been around in fandoms for long. Especially tropes. So if I'm writing a protective Eddie fic, I don't mind At All that someone else writes one because they get inspired by me. The more the merrier.
But this was such a specific idea. I didn't read their fic because it hurt, but from what I've seen is that they followed it a lot. The confrontation + the interviews + I think the ending was similar as well? They saw my post, didn't bother to check anything else out (at least, that's why I suspect they misgendered me, though idk why the assumption is automatically she/her. I mean, I am afab, but there are plently of men on here as well). Didn't bother to ask if I was ok with it (like others did because they have manners)
And that doesn't feel okay. To just copy the whole plot. That's what I'm upset about.
Me not sharing snippets anymore is probably too dramatic because, like I said, I usually write tropes everyone writes, those stories are not 100% original. So I'll probably go back once my mind is less of a mess and I can think rational again. The support I get from snippets is usually what gets me through the day.
Anyway, rant over. Just trying to explain my (messy) mindset.
(Even with everything, I feel horrible asking you not to support their fic because that feels mean. I won't stop you from doing it. Just want you to know I'm not ok or happy with it)
(I'm also not going to name them publicly because I am not looking for a fight. But I guess if you go through the Buddie tag on ao3, you'll eventually find the fic. I think they also reblogged the original post with a link, but since I blocked them, idk if that's still visible on my post.)
