The Inspector learnt very quickly not to give Jeffrey anything that might possibly explode.

Because, Jeffrey had a tendency to make things that shouldn’t ordinarily explode, do so.

It’s a good thing that the Seventh Inspector was good with diffusing time bombs,

because had Jeffrey got his hands on them, they most certainly would have exploded.
