Is a name for the OC and canon pairing for my OC Shades and Waru in Extended AU.
(Extended AU masterpost here!)
Recently I posted a fanfic on the topic of how they met (here's the link to it), so spoilers for that I guess. Hopefully soon we make a post about Waruland in Extended AU theres a lot of lore there lol.
Anyhow, here's Shades reference, and Waru's prison outfit, and an art of his looks once Shades breaks him out.
For those unaware, Shades is my warulandian LOK OC. They are a travelling merchant in the cardworld that loves to sell, collect and hoard stuff. They are very shady and scammy, but surprisingly successfull in their trade. They have the energy of a looney tunes character.
And yes, Waru is blind for the major part of this AU. It happens once he's stripped of all the power and nakes him highly dependant on Shades for survival and avoidance of law that seeks to imprison him again.
Here's some of my many sketches regarding the whatever relationship they have lol.
Safe to say, it starts out rather rough.
They are my faveourite idiot duo. If you're wondering how this pairing came to be, it's really simple.
We thought it would be funny if Waru was owned by Shades.
in my au trains are manufactured exclusively by other trains (not humans) and sometimes i think about how much love and attention must go into that process. can you imagine carefully crafting a whole new being by hand? sculpting a face that has never been seen; carefully assembling every bit? every last facet? do you think the trains who work in manufacturing adoringly brush out a new train's hair before sending them to their destination, where they'll be woken up for the first time and taught how to be alive? do they stare at blank faces and hollow eyes and wonder where they'll end up? do they hold their lifeless hands?
Okayyyy time for the firsth in line of posts explaining the Land of Kings extended au lore!!!!
Extended AU masterpost.
Me and Moony will go over parts of lore part by part according to the timeline and firsth up is Gabriel!
Part 1 - Gabriland
After clones made an agreement to create countries and parted ways, Gabriel left quite confuzed. He didn't quite understand why this agreement was made or why it was even important. In fact, he found it whay more inportant that he gets answers to certain questions that have been constantly bothering him.
But where should he get answers? Other clones left... All he had remaining was his generator. Maybe if it can generate stuff... it can generate answers too?
So that's how he used it. He'd ask a question and press the button, and generator would generate something that could, in a way, answer his question.
Now, after a while Gabriel got a bit lonley and bored... So he wondered if Generator could be more than just a tool.

That's right, he asked the generator to becone a friend, his clone. Someone who could potentially explain the answers he's giving Gabriel.
(Big thank you to @s0ckh3adstudios and @moog-enthusiast for letting us use their generator Rodef concept in our au! ♡♡♡)
Now, how do things work in Gabriland? Well simple, Gabriel asks Rodef a question, and Rodef answers. And sometimes, Rodef answers by generating something new. So it wasn't long before Gabriland got cluttered with piles of various random items. One could easily get lost in there since space in that area got a bit odd after Gabriel asked if it's possible to find more space for everything... Let's just say wormholes and pocket spaces aren't that uncommon.
Now, as it is obvious from previous example, some questions don't have easy answers, so of course the generated thing is quite complex, alive even! In fact, when Gabriel got curious about living things, firsth citizens were made. Each new question answered with a new creature, so Gabriland was soon filled with animals, and after a while, with firsth human citizens too!
One such complex answer was Fate's Nightingale, also known as Prophet's Starling or any other name the citizens of the card world gave to this seemingly mystical entity once it set journey across Card World. Gabriel asked 'What awaits us in the future?'. Rodef didn't know, so he generated someone who will. He created a small songbird, a concious creature capable of speaking human languages, it's songs forsee the future.
Now it should be noted that Gabriel is indeed a bit short sighted, as he made a similar mistake Fedor did as he didn't forsee that he'd need to take care of life he created. He simply didn't realise it since he was preoccupied with talking to Rodef. He didn't neglect anyone out of malice, it was a consequence of his lack of thinking. Of course some citizens would complain to Gabriel, ask him to fix some problems. And Gabriel's solution was to ask Rodef for a solution, since he's very good at it!
So for example, when the citizens asked Gabriel how he will protect the animals of his kingdom that wandered off into the void of the card world, (for example something Nightingale did too) he passed that question onto Rodef, who created a creature that could do just that, and so Michael (also known as Mike) was created. So Mike set out to travel the Card World in search of the lost animals to check if they're all allright (later on encounters the curcus and travels with them).
So any question or problem in Gabriland is ultimatley answered or solved by Rodef. And thats how it stays for a long, long time untill something disrupts the routine...
Now how do Gabriel's other citizens feel about all of this? Well, you'll have to ask @sasheliv ...
